Preparation
Please prepare a brief musical theatre song which best shows your personality and abilities. Have a brief second song prepared, if asked. Bring sheet music, in your key, as an accompanist will be provided. Have your picture and resume stapled together, back to back.

Narrator:
Woman 20's-30's. Narrates the story through song. Must have a spectacular high belt voice. Moves well.
Joseph:
Male: 20's. The prodigal son. A beautiful, and idealistic mystic. The pride of his father and a nemesis to his brothers. Has a golden pop tenor voice. Pure star quality.

(20’s) Singer-songwriter and star from Lubbock, Texas. Buddy is intelligent, charismatic and 6ft or over. Must play guitar, sing and act and have a feel for Rock ‘n’ Roll. Some serious star potential must have a desire to live as a rock ‘n’ roll superstar every night.
JOE B MAULDIN
(20’s) Double Bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Serious, square young man with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
JERRY ALLISON
(20’s) Drummer from Lubbock, Texas. Good looking, irrepressible fun loving guy with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
MARIA ELENA HOLLY
(20’s) Hispanic-American. Classy and well- educated. Must be able to sing and musical ability an advantage.
RITCHIE VALENS
(20’s) Ritchie is an attractive and handsome Latin-American singer with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies, and the ability to hold the stage in his own right. His key song is “La Bamba”. Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive.
HIPOCKETS DUNCAN
(30’s), an exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
NORMAN PETTY
(30’s) -, a record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
VI PETTY
(30’s), the wife of Norman with a heart of gold. Vi must be able to sing and act, and have exceptional Rock ‘n’ Roll keyboards ability, with a good sense of humor.
APOLLO PERFORMER
African-American Female with the ability to hold the stage on her own. Key song “Party”. Must have good comic timing and be able to act. The ability to play a musical instrument is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
