Breakdown

JULIUS CAESAR

Julius Caesar. 50 to 60. Great Roman general and senator. Recently returned from triumphant military campaign. Played a large role in the transition of the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. Revels in the homage he receives from the people and the conception of living forever in public memory. Belief in himself as impermeable in the public eye and loyalties of the senate leads to his demise.

Marcus Brutus. 35 to 45. Supporter of the Roman Republican who believes steadfast in government led by the votes of the senate. Loves Caesar as a friend, but opposes the ascension of any one person to dictatorship. Epitomizing Roman virtue, his unmoving sense of honor allows him to easily be swayed to believe killing Caesar will preserve the republic.

Caius Cassius. 40-50. Talented general and longtime acquaintance of Caesar. Cassius dislikes Caesar’s new god-like status to the people. Brother-in-law to Brutus, Cassius is the leading instigator and “moving spirit” in the plot to kill Caesar. Devious, impulsive, and a shrewd opportunist, Cassius holds no illusion to how the political world works.

Mark Antony. 35 to 45. A Roman politician and general. An important supporter and friend of Julius Caesar, his mother’s cousin. Responds to cues of his nemesis and allies alike to gain most advantage. Impulsive and improvisatory in nature, he convinces the conspirators of his allegiance. Not too scrupulous to stoop to deceit and duplicity and a powerful rhetorician, he later persuades the masses against Caesar’s assassins.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

Egeon. 50 to 60. A Syracusian merchant. Husband of Emilia and father of the two Antipholi. He is in search of his wife and son, who were separated from him in a shipwreck 33 years ago. He has been sentenced to death at the start of the play. Doubles with Dr. Pinch.

Antipholus of Syracuse. 30-35. Son of Egeon and Emilia. Twin brother of Antipholus of Syracuse. Traveling the world with his servant to find his long lost mother and twin. Anitipholi potentially to switch roles in rep.

Dromio of Syracuse. 30 to 35. Twin brother of Dromio of Ephesus. Bumbling, comical servant to Antipholus of Syracuse. Dromios potentially to switch roles in rep.

Antipholus of Ephesus. 30 to 35. Son of Egeon and Emilia. Twin brother of Antipholus of Syracuse. Proud.
Well respected merchant. Adriana’s Husband. Anitipholi potentially to switch roles in rep.

Dromio of Ephesus. 30 to 35. Twin brother of Dromio of Syracuse. Bumbling, comical servant to Antipholus of Ephesus. Dromios potentially to switch roles in rep.

Angelo. 25 to 40. Goldsmith in Ephesus. Friend to Antipholus of Ephesus.

Dr. Pinch. 50 to 60. A holy man, conjurer, and would-be exorcist. Doubles with Egeon.
