Lunch from 1 - 2. New York, NY 10036

Prepare a one-minute monologue and 16-24 bars of music. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

10 AM – 5:30 PM 500 Eighth Avenue, 12th Floor

Seeking:

Alan:

About 40, successful corporate attorney. Alan demonstrates the self-confidence of his profession. Husband to Annette. To Alan, cynicism and truthfulness are molecularly joined.

Annette:

About 40, wife of Alan. Diplomatic, apologetic, Annette wants everything, including herself, to be perfect for everyone. She is quite proud of how well she hides the strain this places upon her. She thinks she succeeds at this.

Veronica:

About 40, wife of Michael. A minor writer on the subject of major causes who also works part-time. She draws her sense of status from the righteousness of her social causes. She is not always nice about how good she is.

Michael:

About 40, husband to Veronica. His desire to be tractable in social situations is often subtly undercut by his resentment at having to take part in them at all. Like the other characters in this play, he is always in search of an opportunity to be himself.

THE RETREAT FROM MOSCOW:

1st rehearsal: 6/19/12. Runs: 7/6-7/15/12

Seeking:

Alice:

Mid 50s, British, loves poetry, wife of Edward. Alice displays a controlling nature but harbors increasingly desperate insecurities until she cannot control herself.

Edward:

Late 50s, British, loves history, teacher in a boys’ school, husband to Alice. Edward’s meekness conceals some resentment. He hides from problems.

Jamie:

Early 30s, British, loving son of Edward and Alice, but one who does not desire the post.

PETE ‘N’ KEELY:

1ST rehearsal: 7/3/12. Runs: 7/20-8/5/12

Seeking:

Pete Bartel:

40s, strong Vegas-type singer, philanderer, divorced from wife and former singing partner Keely but reunited for TV special of their lives and careers. Charming, smooth, a very experienced performer, completely at ease with his style and audience. Ego hides enormous vulnerability.

Keely Stevens:

40s, strong Vegas-type singer, divorced from former singing partner Pete but reunited for TV special of their lives and careers. Charming, smooth, experienced performer, completely at ease with her style and audience. Offstage, her ego hides enormous vulnerability.
