Please prepare a brief, contemporary comic monologue, preferably two minutes or less.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled back-to-back.

All dates are in 2011. All roles are available unless otherwise specified. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements for pre-cast roles, should replacements become necessary.

PAINTING CHURCHES by Tina Howe. Dir: Gloria Muzio. 1st reh: 6/7. Runs 6/16-6/25.

Fanny Church:

60s. Bostonian, from a fine old family.

Gardner Church:

70s. Fanny’s husband, an eminent New England poet from a finer family.

Margaret Church:

Early 30s. Their daughter, a painter.

DISTRACTED by Lisa Loomer. Dir: Sam Rush. 1st reh: 6/21. Runs 6/30-7/9.

Mama:

30s - early 40s. Smart, warm, wry. Unfailingly positive person who keeps her ironic sense of humor (as long as possible!) and will go to any lengths to help her son.

Dad:

30s or 40s. A guy's guy. Bright, with quick impulses. Working-class background; designs car crashes. Easygoing -- till pushed -- and even then, the tone of his anger is more incredulous than dark.

Jesse:

Age 9. Funny, wild, sweet, impulsive, impatient, exuberant, angry … with a mouth. Mostly an offstage voice.

Dr. Zavala / Dr. Broder / Dr. Jinks / Dr. Karnes:

30s. All played by one actor. Doctors include a child psychologist, a psychiatrist and an environmental physician.

Mrs. Holly / Dr. Waller / Carolyn / Nurse / Waitress:

40s-50s. Played by one actor. An overworked school teacher, a neuropsychologist, mother of an autistic child, a down-to-earth nurse and a spacey waitress.

Sherry:

Well-off suburban mother who wants the best for her kids.

Vera:

Neighbor with no people skills.

Natalie:

Teenager with big mood swings. Open-hearted. A cutter.

DINNER WITH FRIENDS by Donald Margulies. Dir: Ed Golden. 1st reh: 7/5. Runs 7/14-7/23.

Karen:

CAST. 40s. Married to Gabe. She and her husband are world-traveling food writers. They live in suburban New England with their two boys.

Gabe:

CAST. 40s. Married to Karen. See Karen’s description above.

Beth:

CAST. 40s. Married to Tom, though in the process of getting divorced. Artist.

Tom:

CAST. 40s. Married to Beth. Lawyer.

SUPERIOR DONUTS by Tracy Letts. Dir: Sam Rush. 1st reh: 7/19. Runs 7/28-8/6.

Arthur Przybyszewski:

Polish American, 59. Owner of Superior Donut Shop. Former 1960s radical who’s flying under life’s radar.

Franco Wicks:

African American, 21. Charismatic. Dreams of being a writer.

Max Tarasov:

Russian, 49. Electronics shopkeeper. Ambitious, with a soft spot.

Kiril Ivakin:

Russian, 35. Recently immigrated to the US from Russia. Big as a truck. Shy.

Lady Boyle:

Irish American, 72. Nearly homeless. Eccentric. Drunk most of the time.

Officer Randy Osteen:

Irish American woman, 49. Rough-around-the-edges cop. Heart of gold.

Officer James Bailey:

African American, 43. Hard-edged cop and “Star Trek” fanatic.

Luther Flynn:

Irish/Italian American, 45. Hoodlum afflicted by a painful ulcer.

Kevin Magee:

Irish American, 28. Low-level hoodlum. A henchman.
