Please bring a selection in the style of the shows to sing. You are welcome and encouraged to sing from the shows. Also, please bring two copies of your headshot and resume, stapled together. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music properly marked and in the correct key.

Note: This show is a co-production with Fulton Theatre Company, Lancaster, PA. We are looking to cast people available for both productions.

SEEKING:

ENSIGN NELLIE FORBUSH: Female Identifying. Age: 25-35. A spirited, young nurse from Little Rock, Arkansas, Nellie is optimistic and tomboyish and falls in love with Emile, but she fights against her own prejudices as their relationship develops. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

EMILE DE BECQUE: Male identifying. Age: 40-50. A wealthy, sophisticated and older French gentleman, de Becque has built an impressive plantation on the island. He claims to have killed a man in France, forcing him to flee the country. He volunteers to serve as a spy for the American troops when Nellie calls things off between them. Vocal range: Baritone

NGANA: Age: 8-10. Female Identifying. Emile’s young French/Polynesian daughter. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

JEROME: Age: 10-12. Male Identifying. Emile’s young French/Polynesian son. Vocal range: Mezzo Soprano

HENRI: Male identifying. Age: 25-45. A native of the island, he works as Emile’s house butler.

BLOODY MARY: Female Identifying. Age: 35-50. A sassy Tonkinese woman who makes her living selling souvenirs to the American sailors, Bloody Mary tries desperately to find a rich husband for her daughter, Liat, who she thinks can give her a better life. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

LIAT: Female Identifying. Age: 18–25. Bloody Mary’s beautiful Polynesian daughter, Liat falls in love with Lt. Cable

LUTHER BILLIS: Male identifying. Age: 35-50. A loveable and crafty man who helps provide much needed comic relief for his fellow sailors, Billis has little to no respect for authority and is always scheming, but he is a good friend to Nellie. He runs a laundry enterprise with a homemade washing machine. Vocal range: Baritone

“STEWPOT” GEORGE WATTS: Male identifying. Age: 35-50. A Sailor and Luther’s cohort, Watts run the laundry machine. Vocal range: Baritone

“PROFESSOR”: Male identifying. Age: 30-40. A Sailor and Luther’s cohort. Vocal range: Baritone

LT. JOSEPH CABLE (USMC): Male identifying. Age: 25-35. A handsome and intelligent officer, Cable is newly stationed on the island. Vocal range: Tenor

CAPT. GEORGE BRACKETT (US NAVY): Male identifying. Age: 40-60. The commanding officer and highest-ranking officer on the island, Brackett is slightly self-important, but he hides a heart of gold.

CMDR. WILLIAM HARBISON (US NAVY): Male identifying. Age: 35-50. Second-in-command on the island, Harbison is officious and hotheaded. He is Brackett’s right-hand man.

RADIO OPERATOR BOB MCCAFFREY: Male identifying. Age: 25-35. A sailor, McCaffrey sends and receives messages from an undercover mission.

LT. BUZZ ADAMS: Male identifying. Age: 25-35. A pilot who flies the undercover mission. Vocal range: Baritone

ENSIGN DINAH MURPHY: Female Identifying. Age: 20-35. A nurse and Nellie’s closest friend. Vocal range: Mezzo Soprano

FANNY BRICE (Female identifying, late 20s-30s, Jewish) Rises from humble beginnings to become one of Ziegfeld’s biggest stars. A stark contrast from Ziegfeld’s traditional showgirls. A tour de force role. A great singer with strong comedic timing.

NICK ARNSTEIN (Male identifying, mid to late 30s) A handsome and charming gambler who is Fanny’s one great love. Strong baritone.

MRS. BRICE (Female identifying, 50s+, Jewish) Tough Brooklyn mother with a dry sense of humor. Loves her daughter deeply. Character singing voice.

EDDIE RYAN (Male identifying, 20s-30s) Fanny’s closest friend. Good comic timing. A true triple threat. An incredible tap dancer.

MRS. STRAKOSH (Female identifying, 50s+) Mrs. Brice’s poker buddy. Funny. Has a nice singing voice.

MRS. MEEKER (Female identifying, 50s+) Mrs. Brice’s poker buddy. Funny. A Soprano.

ZIEGFELD (Male identifying, 50s+) One of the great Broadway producers. Elegant, imposing and firm. Non singing role.

TOM KEENEY (Male identifying, 40s+, Irish) A very Irish, working-class Vaudeville producer. Good comic timing. Some singing required.

EMMA/MRS. NADLER (Female identifying, late 20s-30s, Jewish) EMMA is Fanny’s maid and confidant. MRS. NADLER is a woman from one of the neighborhood gangs from Henry Street. This track will cover the role of FANNY BRICE (Female, mid 20s-30s, Jewish) Rises from humble beginnings to become one of Ziegfeld’s biggest stars. A tour de force role. A great singer. Strong comedic timing.
