SEEKING ONE ACTOR FOR EACH OF THE FOLLOWING ROLES:
Winnie
Female, African American, to play 9. Third-generation Afro-Caribbean from south London. A silent, watchful child. Wise and mature well beyond her years. Observant, careful, and sensitive; she takes care of her mother, and is quietly skeptical of her own plans for a better future. Fluency in French a huge plus; ability to speak French convincingly a necessity.
Please note: Actively and preferably accepting submissions of age appropriate actors to play WINNIE. Additionally seeking teenage or adult actresses who would play the role as “as adult playing a child.”
Laverne
Female, African American, Late 20s/mid 30s. Winnie’s mother. Second-generation Afro-Caribbean from south London. Smart, determined, even tempered, and extremely hard working – envisions a better life for herself and her daughter. She is heavily pregnant with her second child; her husband has recently left her and Winnie for a younger woman.
