SEEKING:
The Engineer:
(Baritone 25-45) A half-French, half-Vietnamese owner of the club Dreamland. He is sly and manipulative, always looking to make a quick profit. His dream is to get out of Saigon.
Kim:
(Soprano Belt 18-28) A 17-year-old Vietnamese girl from the country. Is forced to work for the Engineer at the Dreamland. She is the love interest of Christopher Scott, an American marine.
Gigi:
(Mezzo 25-35) A Vietnamese bar girl who wins the contest and the title of “Miss Saigon.” Her dream is to be taken away by an American marine to start a new life in America.
Ellen:
(Mezzo 25-30) Chris’s wife. He married her after returning to America. She travels with him to Saigon, where she meets Kim and Tam.
John:
(Baritone 24-35) Chris’s close friend and a fellow American marine.
Thuy:
(Tenor 24-34) Kim’s cousin, to whom she has been promised since she was 13.
Tam:
(child to look 3years old) Kim’s son fathered by Chris.
