Seeking:

Theatre’s casting note: “We are looking for theater artists who would like to join a strong existing ensemble company.” Available roles considered for Equity contracts:

Female roles:

Isabella:

About to take her vows as a nun. Very virtuous and chaste young woman.

Mistress Overdone:

A bawd; runs a brothel in Vienna.

Male roles:

Vincentio:

The kindly, philosophical duke of Vienna. Puts the government in Angelo’s hands in the hope he can enforce the laws more strictly.

Angelo:

The duke’s deputy, in charge of the government while Vincentio is gone. Rules with an iron hand, but ignores his own mistakes and hypocrisy.

Escalus:

Ancient lord and counselor to Vincentio. Tries to instill reason and virtue in Angelo’s government.

Lucio:

A “fantastic”; flamboyant and comic bachelor. Claudio’s friend, and tries to help him.

Elbow:

Dim-witted constable.

Pompey:

Clown. Servant of Mistress Overdone.

By car from NYC: Just off CT15-N, exit 61 for Whitney Ave toward Hamden. Turn right at Whitney Ave. Clarion Hotel is on the left. Parking lot is free.

By train/bus from NYC: Metro North to New Haven Union Station; shuttle to New Haven Green, then “J” bus to Whitney Ave in Hamden (bus comes every half hour). Confirm schedule info with Metro North and CT Transit.
