When Vivian, a brilliant scientist, is suddenly called upon to take care of her estranged thirteen year-old autistic daughter, she searches for answers to her daughter's mysteries and is forced to confront her own personality. LUCY asks provocative questions and defies conventional wisdom about normalcy, motherhood, evolution and autism.

Seeking:

Lucy:

18+, but must look young and believably play a 13-year-old. Actress with a deep emotional facility and very solid technique to play a 13-year-old autistic girl. Must be under 5’2”. Must have a flexible voice, facile physical skills, and an ability to communicate complex emotions (often non-verbally). Lucy is the narrator of the play. She is onstage for almost the entire duration of the play - and she exhibits many varied autistic behaviors which are sometimes at odds with her emotional life. While she sometimes struggles to communicate and resorts to yelling or barking, she can also expresses herself quite articulately when she speaks directly to the audience. An eccentric, charismatic character. This is a tour de force role for a young actresses.
