Seeking:
Kris Kringle:
Man, early - mid 20s. “The best toymaker ever”, but a curse on his family prevents him from working at the North Pole. It is his dream to work there, and when he unwittingly gets a chance, he sets the North Pole on its ear. Kris is magical, a dreamer. A bit of a well-meaning klutz, with a heart of gold. Lead. Very strong singer (pop tenor). Comic timing.
Evelyn Noel:
Woman, early - mid 20s. Runs apprentice elves’ boot camp at the North Pole. Earnest, takes her job seriously. Spunky, with a warm, sweet side. Lead. Strong singer (pop alto).
Santa Claus:
Mid 50s - late 60s. Good-natured and warm-spirited, but not the jolly old elf of popular culture. He is overworked and stressed, and not above arguing with Mrs. Claus. He makes the rules, and the rules are followed. Strong singer (baritone).
Roy G. Reedy:
Early 50s - mid 60s. Santa's disgraced brother. Owns and operates a doll-making company. Has only two aims – revenge against Santa, and making money off of Christmas. Baritone.
Ms. Horn:
Late 20s - mid 40s. Mr. Reedy's ravishing, evil associate. Mezzo soprano.
Elmer Elf:
Early 20s - 30s. Head of Santa's workshop. Overzealous and full of himself, and has an affinity for Elvis. Elvis in an elf suit. Tenor/baritone.
Tinselle:
Early 20s - mid 30s. Character is intended to be female, but can also be played by a male. One of the elf apprentices at the North Pole who befriends Kris.
Two Tiffany Dolls:
Early 20s - mid 30s. Two statues of Mr. Reedy's signature doll who are brought to life by Ms. Horn with a wave of her wand. They are Ms. Horn's henchwomen, sent to the North Pole to spy on the goings on. Mezzo sopranos.
Two Elves / Toymakers:
Any age, male or female. Play ensemble characters as toymakers and elves.
Producer’s statement: “Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.”
