JACOB: Aged patriarch. He overly “dotes” on Joseph, to the exclusion of his other sons. Must be active due to use of stairs and kneeling.

JOSEPH: Jacob’s favorite son. Vocal range – high tenor. Singer/actor. Good looking and very fit. Honest with good intent. Humble but proud and able to transition to the leader of a nation. Must believe in himself and his conviction

BROTHERS: 11 brothers – Jacob’s other sons. Wide age range. Vocal mix. High energy and very active. Singer/dancer/actor. (special abilities: including but not limited to gymnastics would be helpful). Needs to be able to develop strong unique characters. Able to portray wide range of performance styles. Brothers double as prisoners. Solos and featured parts will be chosen from within the brothers to include:
• French Bistro style (i.e. Maurice Chevalier) – needs good comic timing
• Jamaican Calypso style
• Country Western style – needs good comic timing
• 2 Butlers
• Baker
• Potipher’s Court
• Pharaoh’s Court

WIVES: 11 brother’s wives. Vocal mix of sopranos, mezzo-sopranos and altos. Must be able to learn and hold complex harmonies. Used throughout show as wives, Busby Berkley dancers, western couples dancers, 60’s go-go dancers, Egyptian court and calypso dancers. Mrs. Potiphar will be cast from this ensemble.

PHARAOH/POTIPHAR: Vocal range-high baritone. Sings Pharaoh in the “Elvis Presley” rock and roll style. Able to connect with audience and ad lib. Good comic timing, very outgoing and able to take the stage; is able to perform two separate characters. As Potiphar, needs to be suave, have a sense of style, aloof, man about town.

GUARDS: Very fit, strong, muscular “jock type” and good looking. Comfortable to be on stage bare chested, commanding, good character sense. Will also double as the Hairy Ishmaelites, Guards for Potiphar.
