Seeking the following only (read notice carefully; submit only if you are right for one/more of these roles and you are free to work throughout the contract dates):

Note: Show is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Five actors play the dozens of characters -- as well as produce the sound effects -- bringing to life the town of Bedford Falls.

Actor 1:

Plays Freddie Filmore (man, 30s) who plays the Announcer. He’s the emcee of the evening’s entertainment; slick, natural, put together, a bit of an ego but he wears it well. Charming. Commands the stage, a consummate performer – maybe a bit annoyed that he wasn’t cast to play George. Also plays Gower, Potter, Billy, Ernie, et al.

Actor 2:

Plays Jake Laurents (man, 30s) who plays George Bailey, everyman. Good-hearted, genuine, passionate, but plays a bit clueless. He’s an underdog. Handsome, but awkward in his skin. Always tries to do the right thing. It’s possible he’s never acted before.

Actor 3:

Plays Sally Applewhite (woman, 30s) who plays Mary Hatch, girl-next-door. Wholesome in a complicated, contemporary sort of way. Smart, witty, talented, perhaps even ambitious. Fresh off the bus, and here to make her mark. Unbeknownst to her, looking for love.

Actor 4:

Plays Lana Sherwood (woman, 30s) who plays Violet, the local libertine. Worldly, experienced, a bit worn, a bit cynical, probably a child star gone astray (---think, dare we say it, Lindsay Lohan). A bad seed ready for redemption. Also plays Rose Bailey, Zuzu, Mrs. Hatch et al.

Actor 5:

Plays Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood (non-Caucasian man, late 30s-50s) who plays Clarence the Angel. A big laugh. A bigger heart. But not without attitude: perhaps he’s the only actor of color in the cast, and extra aware of his token presence. Also plays Harry, Bert, Sam Wainwright, Martini, et al. Seeking an actor who plays the piano.

Casting director’s statement: “SEEKING ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES.”
