NOTE: Pioneer's description of this new play: “Sara has been working on her novel for five years. In the meantime, she tutors the children of affluent families in order to improve their chances of getting into elite colleges. Pammie desperately wants her son to get into Harvard, and has hired Sara to make sure it happens. Jordy’s not so sure he belongs at Harvard...but then he’s not sure about a lot of things.

With humor, insight, and the perfect ear for dialogue that marked last season's Touch(ed), playwright Bess Wohl examines the complicated relationships of three people who are trying, in very different ways, to find their place in the world. ”

SEEKING:

Sara:

28. Awkward in that “smart girl way.” Sara is a late bloomer who has never been “cool,” has no idea how pretty she is, and still struggling to find herself and come into her own. At her job she's professional and polite, but the truth is she's broke, lonely and full of unexpressed rage.

Jordy:

17. Jordy is rich, athletic, good-looking and full of charisma. He has the natural ease of a kid who's always been in the cool crowd, and alternately seems either wise beyond his years or the consummate dumb teenager. Much of his bravado and wit is covering the fact that he is deeply afraid that he doesn't have what it takes to face his future.

Pammie:

Pushing 50, Pammie is funny, endearing, self-effacing and adorable. (Think Diane Keaton.) She talks a mile a minute, and is much smarter than her circumstances allow for. She is the ultimate party guest, the woman you'd most like to be best friends with (if you could just get her to focus!) and yet deep down she is terrified of getting older. She is unbearably lonely.
