Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.
Based on the 1897 play “La Ronde” by Arthur Schnitzler (also titled “Reigen”). Musical focuses on a series of love affairs among ten characters during the ten different decades of the 20th Century.
Seeking six men and four women. All actors play a number of roles of varying types, with one primary role. Seeking strong dramatic actors with exceptional voices and strong musicianship skills. All roles are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted)).
The Whore:
Woman, early – late 30s. Mysterious, sensual, desperate, tortured yet spiritual. Walks the line between alluring and vulgar. Ultimately seeks connection over financial gain. Mezzo/alto.
The Nurse:
Woman, early 20s – mid 30s. Innocent, young, sexy, funny and powerful. Develops from a shy, insecure girl into a sexual prowess [sic]. Great sense of sensuality and humor. Soprano.
The Young Wife:
Woman, early 20s – mid 30s. Neurotic, tortured, confused, lost and sensual. Stuck in a marriage to a much older man she doesn’t love. Striving for a meaningful connection that is not based on co-dependency. Soprano/mezzo.
The Actress:
Woman, mid – late 30s. Sexy, demanding, powerful, manipulative and searching. Beautiful in every way, and knows it. Enjoys her powers of beauty and fame. Mezzo.
The Soldier:
Man, mid 20s – early 30s. Young, fast, decisive player-type. Somewhat selfish and impulsive. Baritenor.
The College Boy:
Man, early – late 20s. Young, handsome, tortured, sexy, confused, guilty. A bit of a mama’s boy. Needs to be nurtured. Somewhat neurotic and insecure. Tenor.
The Husband:
Man, mid – late 40s. Older, distinguished, handsome, sardonic, desperate, manipulative. Somewhat repressed. Puts his needs above others’, and has the power and money to do so. Baritenor.
The Young Thing:
Man, early 20s – early 30s. Young, sexy, “over-it,” searching, tender hustler. Too cool for school; able to compartmentalize his emotions. Likes to be admired. Tenor.
The Writer:
Man, late 30s. Neurotic, desperate, obsessed, frustrated, sexy. Narcissistic. Sees the world as it revolves around him. Tries to find the obscure beauty in everything. Open, and exudes sexuality. Baritenor.
The Senator:
Man, mid 40s – early 50s. Handsome, sexy, lost, tired, confused. Unsatisfied with a long successful career that has left him lonely and empty. Baritenor.
