Monday, November 28, 2011 at The Show Palace Dinner Theatre

10:30 AM – 6:30 PM 16128 US Highway 19

Lunch from 2 - 3. Hudson, FL 34667

Sign up begins at 10:00 AM.

No advanced appointments. Theatre’s monitor arrives ½ hour prior to call for sign up. Bring appropriate musical theater songs or tunes from the late ’50s or early ’60s. Pop music is preferred. Performers are welcome to sing numbers from the show for this call, but should have another selection as well. Bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. No A cappella singing or karaoke tracks.

Performers should also be prepared in case they are asked to dance.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

[Non-Equity will be seen as time permits. Non-Equity pay is negotiable.]

Seeking:

Wilbur Turnblad: Tracy's father. A working class inventor. Sweet, goofy, childlike personality. Adores his family. funny character actor type. Good character singer.

Amber Von Tussle: Bratty, selfish resident princess of The Corny Collins Show, despite her lack of talent. She is willing to do anything to win the Miss Teenage Hairspray pageant. Must sing & dance well, including tap.

Velma Von Tussle: Amber's scheming mother and producer of The Corny Collins Show, who pushes her daughter to seek the stardom that she never had. Must be a strong singer and mover

Penny Pingleton: Caucasian female. 18+ to play teen. 5’0” – 5’5. Tracy's slightly dorky, devoted, neurotic and perky best friend with beautiful physique. Must be a strong dancer with great comedic timing. Voice type: Strong Belt. Vocal Range: middle C to G above C

Seaweed J. Stubbs: A hip “Negro Day” dancer and the son of Motormouth Maybelle. He falls in love with Penny. Must sing well and be an excellent dancer.

Corny Collins: The handsome and cocky host of The Corny Collins Show. Must sing well. Must be a great dancer.

Motormouth Maybelle: The owner of a downtown record shop and the host of “Negro Day” on The Corny Collins Show, self-described as “big, blonde and beautiful”. Must be a string singer. Must move well.

Tammy, Shelly, Brenda/Lou Ann: Council Members of The Corny Collins Show, who are all cute and perky “American Sweethearts”. Must sing well. Must be excellent dancers, including tap.

Brad, Fender, IQ: Council Members of The Corny Collins Show, who are all fresh and innocent dreamboats. Must sing well. Must be excellent dancers.

Natalie, Lorraine, Pearl/The Dynamites: Considered Motormouth's Teens, friends with Seaweed and Inez. Must be excellent singers & dancers (including tap)

Gilbert, Duane: Considered Motormouth's Teens, friends with Seaweed. Must be excellent singers & dancers

Female Authority Figure: The Matron guarding The Big Dollhouse; the Gym Teacher; and Prudy Pingleton (Penny's overprotective and often close-minded mother). Must move well.

The following roles have been CAST. Actors auditioning will be considered for possible replacements should they become necessary.
