9:30 AM - 5:30 PM 165 West 46th Street, 2nd Floor

Lunch from 1 - 2. New York City

Please prepare a brief contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song. Bring sheet music in the correct key (including other songs); accompanist is provided, but may not transpose. For the non-singing role of Sam Yeshiyan, prepare a contemporary comic monologue, 2 minutes or less.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Musical comedy follows the story of long-lost friends who met at a performing arts sleep-away camp and who are reconnected through social networking. The paths of their lives since camp have led them not only far from each other, but also far from their true selves. Their today and their yesterday crash in upon each other when a milestone anniversary of one very special summer reunites them in an unexpected way. Bursting with hilarity and heart, the musical shows that when past and present collide, the future just might appear.

Seeking (all roles are available unless otherwise specified):

Young Alex:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 16–17 believably. Young Alex is attractive, though not necessarily exceptionally handsome. His appeal comes more from his winning personality. Upbeat energy, but with an underlying self-doubt and tendency toward introspection. Pop/rock tenor. Must be a strong singer and a good dancer.

Adult Zoe:

Woman, 39. History editor at a university press. Very pretty, and in good shape. Smart and well educated, she focuses little energy on things like fashion or makeup. Her demeanor is pleasant, but serious – with a palpable touch of sadness. Child of divorce; her parents' break-up threw her life into a tempest-tossed sequence of numerous addresses, financial insecurity and emotional turmoil. She took solace in books and intellectual pursuits, and, perhaps because her present and future always seemed bleak, took particular interest in the past, majoring in History in college. Craving stability, she settled into a career-track in small-press and university publishing, mostly of scholarly works. Her affection for the past permeates her personal life as well. She idealizes her life before her parents' divorce as a time of incomparable joy that can never be repeated, the pinnacle of which was her one summer at Camp Greenwood. Zoe has thus resigned herself to a tepid life of small pleasures, believing that, as we all are given only so much happiness in life, she received hers in her youth – and with that, she has made her peace ... she thinks. Pop/rock mezzo with some legit.

Young Zoe:

Seeking actress 18+ to play 15–16 believably. Young Zoe is pretty in a wholesome, un-self-conscious way. Smart and studious, though not overly intellectual. Sweet, sincere, without attitude or sarcasm. She's been wounded enough by life to be wary and reserved in new surroundings. Eventually, as she becomes more comfortable, she starts to open up and blossom. Pop/rock mezzo. Comfortable belt range can be low, but must at least have rock-falsetto highs. Must be a strong singer and dancer.

Young Sheila:

Seeking actress 18+ to play13–14 believably. Possibly red-haired, freckle-faced. Upbeat, big-hearted, and possessed of seemingly limitless energy. Has no filter, says what she thinks. Always sees possibility, and always seeks to turn those possibilities into actualities. Soprano with high belt. Must be a strong singer and move well.

Young Lexy:

Seeking actress 18+ to play 15 believably. Young Lexy is a hottie of a flirt: sassy, brassy, bold, brash and unabashed. Projects sexual experience and confidence, but is not at all the stereotypical “pretty bitch”; she's smart, good-natured and real. Rock/pop alto. Some dance ability preferred.

Adult Daniel:

40. Hardened and dangerous-looking. Paying the price for living hard and growing up fast. Spent years as a homeless drug addict and alcoholic. In a recent effort to clean himself up and get his life together, he reached out to Ronald for help. Ronald gave him a caretaker/maintenance job at Greenwood, so Daniel now lives and works there. With age and hard experience has come maturity, and with maturity, perspective. Mostly non-singing role—no vocal training or musical theatre credits required.

Young Daniel:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 15–16 believably. Young Daniel is Caucasian. “Bad boy” energy. Has the voice of Chris Martin, the intensity of Roger Daltry and the smoldering sexual charisma of Jim Morrison. Projects an air of confidence, depth and fearlessness. Rock tenor with strong falsetto. Some dance skills preferred.

Stacey:

39. Businesswoman. Adult Zoe's best friend. Pretty, sexy and fit, she's a mover and shaker in the corporate realm and a straight-shooter in her personal dealings. She, too, can be a wiseass, but her love for and devotion to Zoe is sincere. Rock soprano. Minimal dance required.

Gary:

We see him in both his 40s and 60s, played by the same actor. Gary is everyone’s favorite drama director. He is warm and wise, and tough when need be. Think a somewhat New York-ish—maybe Jewish—Santa Claus! Minimal singing or dancing—primarily an acting role.

Adult Paul:

African American, late 30s–early 40s. Has aged well, and maintained his physical fitness. Warm, kind, considerate—a true mensch. After years of climbing the corporate ladder, Paul is now a stay-at-home dad, very content to let his wife earn their “daily bread”. Tenor acceptable, baritone preferred. Must be a strong singer and a capable dancer.

Young Paul:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 16–17 believably. Young Paul is African American. Though incredibly talented, Young Paul is also as sweet, humble and real as they come. Tenor. Must be a true triple threat—strong singer, dancer, actor.

Adult Jessie:

39. The pursuit of an acting career in her 20s brought only degradation and acts of desperation for Jessie. After some hard years, she’s bounced back, and is now devoted to teaching yoga and pursuing spiritual growth. Legit B’way alto w/pop chops.

Young Jessie:

Seeking actress 18+ to play 14 believably. Young Jessie is a former Broadway child actress. Although she loves theatre, she feels burned by her Broadway experience, and is therefore beginning to question the notion of committing her life to it as a career. More worldly wise than most kids her age. Pop alto.

Adult Jeff:

Late 30s – early 40s, any ethnicity. Although he had the potential to become a serious dancer/choreographer, he set his Broadway dreams aside in favor of fostering a committed relationship with his partner. Out and proud, they've been together for 15 years, and are looking forward to starting a family. Must be a strong dancer. Must be able to learn and sing harmonies.

Young Jeff:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 15 believably. Young Jeff is gay, though he hasn't come to terms with it yet. It’s a major factor in his affection for Greenwood (in addition to his considerable talent as a dancer). Even though he isn’t able to “come out” fully, there is an unspoken sense that his camp friends all know, and accept him for who he is. Triple-threat. Pop tenor.

Young Ronald:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 14–16 believably. Young Ronald is Jewish. A big lug, socially awkward, unattractive. Can be annoying, but not to the point that we’d hate him. Seeking a strong comedic actor. High baritone/low tenor.

Sam Yeshiyan:

Mid 30s. Sam is a talented professional actor. All business, and very serious about his career. This is a small role in terms of quantity of lines, but big in terms of laughs. The actor must be a master of underplayed, ultra-dry comedy. Non-singing, non-dancing.

The following roles are cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

Adult Alex:

CAST (Jarrod Emick). 41. Struggling actor. He's taken good care of himself throughout his adult life, and maintained a relatively youthful, attractive appearance. Has charm, intelligence and wit to spare, but there is a seriousness about him, perhaps even a slight brooding quality. He is so burdened by the “glory days” of his youth and the tremendous promise he showed back then that he is all but crippled by it. Hasn’t given up the fight, but hasn’t given up the ghost of his own past that haunts him, either. With every failed effort to “make it” as an actor, he feels that much more inadequate relative to his former self. His confidence thereby erodes a little more, and success then moves even further out of his reach. Pop/rock tenor. Minimal dance required.

Adult Sheila:

CAST (Andrea McArdle). 39. Wife and mother. Has aged gracefully and married very well. Her economic success has brought her a measure of class and poise that her younger self lacked. Beneath her upper-class, “together” exterior lies the same wide-eyed, optimistic, can-do “activator” she was in her youth—she is still someone with the ability to make things happen. The youngest of her children having recently departed for college, her empty nest has exposed to Sheila the emptiness of the marriage that underlies it. Legit B’way mezzo w/R&B chops. Minimal dance required.

Adult Lexy:

CAST (Felicia Finley). Early 40s, any ethnicity. Plus-sized to heavyset. Adulthood and motherhood have grounded her energy somewhat—relative to her wild youth—but her sexuality remains wholly intact. When she has something to say, she has no problem saying it. Divorced mother on the prowl. Pop/rock/R&B belter. Must be a strong singer.

Josh:

CAST (Carey Shields). 36. An actor. Adult Alex's best friend. Fit and handsome, he's a player—both in the Hollywood and the sexual senses. And yet, he's a funny, really good guy. He can be a wiseass, but beneath the banter, he is sincerely devoted to his friend Alex. Rock tenor. Minimal dance required.

Adult Ronald:

CAST (Jayden Lund). 40ish. Son of the Camp Greenwood owner/founder; the heir-apparent – but he is a relcutant one at best, as he’d be inheriting the reins of a place where he himself never quite fit in. Although he has an affinity for the technological and has garnered respectable IT skills over the years, Ronald never really found the proverbial beat of his own drum to which he could march. He works on the staff of the camp because it’s the family business, that’s all. Compared to his young self, he hasn't aged well, physically—possibly overweight, possibly bald, etc.
