Thursday, February 24, 2011 Abingdon Theatre Company

10 AM – 6 PM 312 West 36th Street

Lunch from 1:30 – 2:30. New York City

Please prepare EITHER a) two brief contrasting one-minute monologues (one should be Shakespeare) OR b) 16 bars of a song and a one-minute monologue. If singing, bring legible sheet music; accompanist provided.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

All dates below are in 2011. All positions are available.

BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO Score: Neil Sedaka. Lyrics by Sedaka, Howard Greenfield, and Cody Philip. Book: Erik Jackson and Ben H. Winters. 1st reh: 7/4. Runs 8/4-9/10.

Marge Gelman:

Mid - late 20s. Mezzo soprano, comfortable to an E and possibly beyond, preferably a legit sound.

Lois Warner:

Mid - late 20s. Alto with some mezzo soprano ability, comfortable to a C and possibly beyond, preferably a pop sound.

Del Delmonaco:

Late 20s - 30s. Tenor, comfortable to an A—the higher the better.

Gabe:

Mid - late 20s. Tenor, Bb - C range.

Esther:

50s - 60s. Alto, comfortable to a C, or at least a Bb, but should really be rich in her low to mid register.

Harvey:

50s-60s. Baritone, should have range to an F# or G.

ROMEO AND JULIET by Shakespeare. Dir: Cathey C. Sawyer. 1st reh: 8/29. Runs 9/27-10/26.

Escalus, Paris, Montague, Capulet, Old Man, Romeo, Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, Friar Laurence, Friar John, Lady Montague, Lady Capulet, Juliet. The role of the Nurse is cast.

WINTer WoNDEreTTES by Roger Bean. Dir: Louralene Snedaker. 1st reh: 11/7. Runs 12/8-12/23.

Seeking women, all with strong belt voices, for the following:

Missy:

Mousy over-achiever. Soprano.

Cindy Lou:

Sexy-yet-reformed “bad girl”. Mezzo.

Suzy:

Happy-go-lucky, and pregnant again. Alto.

Betty Jean:

Self-anointed clown. Bass.
