Story: Four Chicago salesmen and their supervisor sell undesirable real estate in resort areas at inflated prices. Their bosses declare a contest: the salesman who clears the highest dollar amount will win a Cadillac, and the salesmen who perform the worst will be fired. In order to win, each must get the best leads from their manager. Two of the salesmen hatch a plan to steal the leads from the office.

Shelly Levene:

mid-late 50s, salesman down on his luck, lives on past glories, fears losing his job and is desperate to save his career. Incessant talker, uses a variety of tactics to achieve his ends.

John Williamson:

early 40s, manager of the real estate office, a company man in charge of salesmen who are older with more “street” experience; not respected by his team who believe he doesn’t really understand the business.

Dave Moss

50-60s, angry, aggressive, devious, successful salesman. Sarcastic and explosive under pressure.

George Aronow

50-60s, timid, meek and mild-mannered. Easily overpowered in conversation, panicky, frustrated, depressed, self-flagellating. Not an original thinker, not up to high pressure, cut-throat real estate world.

Richard Roma

early 40s, Top-of-his-game salesman, smart, charming, quick witted, seductive, ruthless. Preening, easy talker who quickly sizes up his “prey.” Will stop at nothing to make a sale.

James Lingk

early 40s, a prospective client. Quiet, timid, insecure, indecisive.
