allen@gashakespeare.org After Monday December 5th. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits.

Prepare two (2) contrasting monologues one of which must be from Shakespeare, 90 seconds each for a total of 3 minutes. If auditioning for the musicals, also prepare a brief song. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

All bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

ILLYRIA: A musical adaptation of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT

Directed by John Briggs

1st rehearsal: 5/15/12. Runs 6/6/12-8/12/12

Seeking:

Viola: A young woman of aristocratic birth, and the play’s protagonist- Soprano

Orsino: A powerful nobleman in the country of Illyria.-Tenor

Olivia A wealthy, beautiful, and noble Illyrian lady-Alto

Sebastian: Viola’s lost twin brother.-Tenor

Malvolio: The straitlaced steward—or head servant—in the household of Lady Olivia. Bass/baritone

Feste: The fool, of Olivia’s household, Feste moves between Olivia’s and Orsino’s homes. Baritone or tenor

Sir Toby: Olivia’s uncle, rowdy. Baritone/bass

Maria: Olivia’s clever, daring young waiting-gentlewoman. Alto

Sir Andrew Aguecheek: A friend of Sir Toby’s. Sir Andrew Aguecheek attempts to court Olivia, foolish. Baritone or tenor

Antonio: A man who rescues Sebastian after his shipwreck, a pirate. Baritone.

Seeking:

Beatrice: Leonato’s niece and Hero’s cousin. Beatrice is “a pleasant-spirited lady” with a very sharp tongue

Benedick: An aristocratic soldier, witty always making jokes.

Claudio: A young soldier friend to Benedick and Don Pedro

Don Pedro: An important nobleman from Aragon, The Prince.

Leonato: A respected, well-to-do, elderly noble

Don John: The illegitimate brother of Don Pedro, a malcontent.

Borachio: An associate of Don John.

Dogberry: The constable in charge of the Watch, very full of himself.


Verges: The deputy to Dogberry, chief policeman of Messina.


Antonio: Leonato’s elderly brother, and Hero and Beatrice’s uncle

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

John Worthing, J.P.: Known as Jack in the country, Ernest in the city. A Charmer.

Algernon Moncrieff: Algernon in the city, Ernest in the country. Charming but rakish.

Rev. Canon Chasuble D.D.: Chasuble is the pedantic country reverend

Lady Bracknell: Gwendolen’s mother and Algernon’s aunt.

Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax: Daughter of Lady Bracknell. She wishes to marry Jack.

Cecily Cardew: Ward of Jack. She wishes to marry Algernon.

Miss Prism: The governess of Cecily.

Merriman: Jack’s butler

Lane: Algernon’s manservant


MACBETH

A revisit of Orson Welles' 1936 Production

Seeking:

Macbeth: Macbeth is a brave soldier and a powerful man, but he is not a virtuous one.

Lady Macbeth: Macbeth’s wife, a deeply ambitious woman who lusts for power and position.

The Three Witches: Three “black and midnight hags” who plot mischief against Macbeth using charms, spells, and prophecies

Banquo: The brave, noble general whose children, according to the witches’ prophecy, will inherit the Scottish throne

King Duncan: The good King of Scotland whom Macbeth, in his ambition for the crown, murders.

Macduff: A Scottish nobleman hostile to Macbeth’s kingship from the start.


Ross: A Scottish nobleman.

Lady Macduff: Macduff’s wife., loving and domestic
