Breakdown

MITCH:
Male. Just turned 40. Recently lost his job and is now living at home with his mother. Much more mature than the rest of the men he surrounds himself with. The guy who “got out”- musician turned investment banker. Known since high school as “the next Bon Jovi,” when he performed in his band, “Juggernaut.” Craving more out of life and wants to inspire his friends to feel the same. Rock Tenor (low C to A above middle C)

BART:
Male. Late 30’s. Mitch’s right-hand man. Highschool math teacher who never left Jersey. Very much a clown and immature, but in a lovable way. Slightly overweight. In love with Sharon. A member of “Juggernaut.” Rock Tenor (low C to A or B above middle C, plus falsetto)

SHARON:
Female. 60’s. Mitch’s mother. Young at heart. Exercises regularly and is in great shape. Treats Mitch and his friends as if they are still in high school, and enjoys doing it. Was most likely an Aerosmith groupie back in the 70’s. Finds the joy out of life and doesn’t let the hardships bring her down. A good mom. Alto with good belt (Up to high C or D)

DANI:
Female. 40. Mitch’s high school sweetheart. Pretty. Never left Jersey and is working in her same high school job. Dating Tygen but has unfinished business with Mitch now that he is back home. Alto with good belt (Up to D or E above high C)

GORDON:
Male. Mid 60’s. Blind. Strong advocate for Mitch’s band, “Juggernaut.” Host of Battle of the Bands. Strong comedic timing and improvisational skills.

TYGEN:
Male. 40. Never left Jersey and is still bitter about his and Mitch’s high school rivalry. Obsessed with winning and being the best around. Very cocky. Dating Dani. A bully in high school and a bully at 40.

RITCHIE:
Male. 40. Tygen’s minion. He will do or say whatever Tygen tells him to. Extremely immature.

SULLY:
Male. 40. Mitch’s buddy from high school. A member of “Juggernaut.” Works as a police officer, but is not very good at it. Has a strong passion for musical theater. Has a thing for his partner, Roxy. Baritenor (C to F above middle C)

ROXY:
Female. 30’s. A police officer and Sully’s partner. Latin and beautiful. Tough as nails.

ROBBIE:
Male. 39. East Indian. Works as dermatologist under the supervision of his father, who he is terrified of. A member of “Juggernaut.” Having an arranged marriage in a week. Very much interested in Tawney. Rock Tenor (G to A above middle C)

RICKY:
Male. 16. Jewish. Dresses and talks like a rapper. Goes by “Ricky Bling,” but his real name is Richard Goldstein. A member of “Juggernaut.” Has strong feelings for Billie and thinks he must be a different type of person in order to attract her attention. mainly a rapper, but should have an F above middle C

BILLIE:
Female. Teens. Dani’s daughter. Going through a Goth phase. Strong and will defend her mother when she needs to. A budding relationship with Ricky.

TAWNEY:
Female. 32. Owner of a chain of tanning salons in New Jersey. In the process of getting a divorce. Very much interested in Robbie.

ENSEMBLE:
various characters throughout the show; including the town drunk, groupies and the citizens of Jersey.
