Na Rose:
African American woman, 19. Beautiful yet awkward. Soft, fragile, lyrical, and unsure of herself. Aspiring blueswoman.
Marla:
African American woman, late 20s/early 30s. Saucy, sexy, voluptuous, troubled and vulgar. One of the “gals”.
Ree Ann:
African American woman, mid - late 30s. Sensible, steady, dedicated and unyielding. One of the “gals”.
Sandy:
African American woman, early 20s. Sweet. Stunning. Spirited, fun-loving, optimistic. Extremely sexual. One of the “gals”.
Ossie:
African American man, early 20s. Handsome. Proud. Charming, strong and confident. A freedom fighter.
Rollo:
African American man, 50s. Nervous energy, jittery, talkative and lovable. Nellie’s oldest friend.
Tom Jr.:
Caucasian man, early 20s. Handsome. Friendly, eager. Aspiring do-gooder with a troubled heart. Sheriff’s son.
Premiere Stages at Kean University is located in Union, NJ, 30 minutes from Manhattan. There is a train (from Penn Station) that stops at the Kean campus.
