World premiere. With apologies to Euripides, the Greek myth of Phaedra could use an update. When Faye Drummond, wannabe model and trophy wife of a wealthy real estate mogul, meets the fabulous drag queen Venus de Soho, her life begins to unravel.
Seeking:
Theodore Letos:
40s-50s. Of Greek heritage. Hotel and real estate tycoon; one of the richest men in America. Has an enormous ego and voracious appetite. Requires a big voice, powerful presence, terrific comic timing.
Faye Drummond:
Caucasian, 30s. Theodore’s trophy wife. Originally from Kentucky; may still have a slight accent. Former model, with lavish taste in clothes, makeup and hair styles. Overwhelmed with flaming passion for her stepson, and tortured by the guilt that goes with it. Charming and vindictive by turns. Actress must have enormous energy, charisma and facility with fast-paced comic dialogue.
Paul Letos:
Early - mid 20s. Blond. Theodore’s son by a previous marriage. Gorgeous and a little spoiled, but a good guy underneath. Looks terrific in a bathing suit.
Arthur:
20s, Faye’s stylist and Paul’s boyfriend. Witty and high-strung. Devoted to Paul. Has great flair and fashion sense.
Olga:
Latina, 20s-30s. Faye’s maid and confidante. Savvy, practical and devoted, with a no-nonsense sense of humor.
Venus:
20s-30s, African-American. Drag queen and performance artist. Ferocious, witty, sarcastic, regal and glamorous. Don’t cross “her”.
Frank Pescitelli:
30s-40s. Of Italian heritage, raised in Queens. Theodore’s right-hand man. Kind of a thug, but knows how to play it smooth when necessary.
