A sensual look at three fascinating people battling fame, inspiration and Mount Everest in the Fall of 1923: Vanessa Bell, the sister of Virginia Woolf, and one of the famed Bloomsbury artists; Duncan Grant, the most famous of the Bloomsbury painters, who was openly gay but lived with Vanessa for over forty years and fathered her daughter; and George Mallory, the mountain climber who coined the phrase “Because it’s there” and died on his third attempt climbing Everest (his body was finally discovered in 1999 and it’s still unclear whether he made the summit or not).

Seeking (all roles are available):

Casting note: All need impeccable, 1920s, educated British dialects.

Vanessa Bell, Caucasian, 45. The emotional heart of the entire Bloomsbury Group. A sensual artist who was willing to sacrifice her career to help Duncan reach his potential. Strong-willed, pragmatic and yet accommodating, she still struggles with her childhood spent playing second fiddle to her sister, Virginia Woolf. Always in control, but with a sense that she might be a volcano ready to erupt at any moment. Brief nudity required (no nudity at auditions).

Duncan Grant, Caucasian, 38. Not necessarily traditionally good looking, but needs incredible charisma and a strong sense of sensual playfulness. Tends to look on the lighter side of life and feels pleasure should be its own reward. Everybody, male and female, tends to fall in love with him. Painting ability a plus. Brief nudity required (no nudity at auditions).

George Mallory, Caucasian, 38. Considered one of the most handsome men of his time in his youth (referred to as"a body sculpted by Praxiteles with the face of a Botticelli"). He's still very handsome, but a little more worn after two attempts at Everest and fighting in WWI. Has no problem using his charm to get what he wants from both men and women. Still bound up in"being the great man," but somewhat haunted by it (and Everest), too. Brief nudity required (no nudity at auditions).
