DOG PARK – OPEN Auditions (Equity and Non-Equity performers)

Theatersmarts (NYC) Equity Showcase, approval pending

Director, Playwright: Maura Kelley

Rehearsals begin the week of 12/18 with the possibility of starting a few days earlier (TBA).

No rehearsals 12/23/11 – 1/1/12. Rehearsals reconvene on 1/2/12 and will most likely run weekday evenings and daytime Weekends. Producer is open to weekday afternoon rehearsals depending on actors schedule.

Show runs: 1/25/12 – 2/12/12, Wed- Sunday at Drilling Co Theater 236 W 78th St, NYC

2:30 PM – 6:30 PM 520 Eighth Avenue, 10th Floor

New York, NY

Equity audition procedures are NOT in effect. No Equity monitor provided. Producer runs all aspects of the audition.

Prepare a short comic contemporary monologue. You may be asked to read a side provided at the audition.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking strong comedic actors with strong comic chops for fast paced dialogue and broad physical comedy. Improv background a plus. Especially interested in character actors.

Seeking:

Henry:

Male late 30-40s any race, partner to Ricardo(CAST), could be from the south. Owner of 2 French bulldogs. Mr. T and Brutus.

Jessica:

Female, grad student, late 20s, owner of Jack Russell, quirky and determined.

Rick:

Early 20s to 30s Jessica’s ex-boyfriend desperate, “lost” . Not a dog owner. Bohemian

Helena:

Female pushing 50, opera singer, must sing a little, out of work, overly dramatic, possibly heavy-set, owner of a Maltisse, Mozarte

Stanley:

Male, 50s, formerly in service, regimented, but nice. Leader. Owner of Serengeti, a German Shepard

Andrew:

Male, late 20s – early 30s, newest dog park member, musician, should play instrument a little bit (guitar or sax) owner of Jack Russell

Mr. Russian:

Male, late 40s – to possibly 60, speaks in Russian gibberish, owner of Wheaton Terriers Doubles as a glitzy billionaire tycoon)

Mrs. Russian:

Female, early 20s to early 40s, doubles as glitzy wife, possible eastern European accent

Thommie Boyle/Naked man:

(not completely naked): Male 25- 55, does various voices offstage. Extremely comic, strong physical comedy and physically “in shape” Special note: All the actors bark for their individual dog in audio only giving a quick rhythmic quality.
