Please prepare EITHER a) a monologue, 2 minutes or less OR b) two 1-minute contrasting monologues OR c) 16 bars of a song and a 1-minute monologue OR d) a brief song. If singing, prepare a song in the style of SPRING AWAKENING. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose.

Our Town by Thornton Wilder. Dir: Robert Ross Parker. 1st reh: 8/30/11. Runs 10/6-10/16.
Stage Manager:
Male or female, 40+. One of the truly iconic roles in American theatre. This character leads us through life in Grovers Corners, serving as narrator and as various characters with the practical, even manner of an experienced theatrical stage manager.
Mrs. Gibbs:
40s. George and Rebecca’s mother. Warm-hearted and caring, with a wit.
Mrs. Webb:
40s. Mother of Emily and Wally. Loving, with a crisp air.
Dr. Gibbs:
Man, 40s-50s. Town physician. Father of George and Rebecca. Affable. A bit weary. Open heart and great sense of humor.
Mr. Webb:
40s-50s. Newspaper editor. Father of Emily and Wally. Bright, inquisitive. A bit quirky, and full of love.

Marc:
Late 20s – early 30s. “Nice Jewish boy”, the Woody Allen-esque narrative voice of the play. Young Ben Stiller-type. Grew up in Simsbury CT, but lives in NYC with his grandfather. Ready to fall in love.
Grampa:
Late 60s–70s. Marc’s grandfather. Speaks with a slight Eastern European accent. In spite of the early stages of Alzheimer’s, he’s sharp, funny and ready with a one-liner.
Polly:
50s-60s. The attractive, Southern mother of Marc’s possible girlfriend. Funny, feisty and flirty.
Odysseus D.O.A. by Stephen Svoboda. Directed by the author. 1st reh: 1/16/12. Runs 2/23 – 3/4/12.
Mrs. Hayes:
Late 40s-50s. Elliot’s mother. Loving, domineering and funny, she’s a character gal in a tragic situation.
Mrs. Collins:
Late 40s-50s. Adam’s mother. She thought that class, wealth and power would protect her family from tragedy. Smartly put-together. Struggles with loving and rejecting her son in his sickness.

Track age: Late 30s–50s. One actor plays multiple characters, including Herr Stiefl (Moritz's father), Herr Gabor (Melchior's father) and Herr Sonnenstich (the boys’ teacher).
Mothers / Teacher / Piano Teacher:
Track age: Late 30s–50s. One actress plays multiple characters, including Fanny (Melchior's mother), Frau Bergman (Wendla's mother) and the Teacher.
Melchior:
Late teens – early 20s. Romantic lead. Smart, headstrong boy who struggles with his intense feelings for Wendla and is troubled by the hypocrisy he encounters all around him. Seeking strong actor with a superb folk-rock/pop-rock voice, G2 - G4.
Moritz:
Late teens – early 20s. Melchior's best friend. Troubled student who desperately tries to please, but always seems to disappoint. High-strung. Confused by his sexual yearnings. Seeking comic actor with a great pop-rock voice, B2 - A4.
