Please prepare a contemporary monologue under 3 minutes. If you wish to audition for the musical POP!, please also prepare 16 bars of a contemporary pop/rock song from the musical theatre or popular music canons. Note, an accompanist will be provided on August 15th only.

Duck Macatarsney: Female, 18+ to play 16, a teenage girl who cares for her biker dad whose MS is getting increasingly bad.

Lawrence Lofthouse: Male 18+ to play 16, Duck’s classmate, a sexually ambiguous wannabe-interior designer.

Agnetha: Female, 30s-40s. Duke’s girlfriend whom he met in an online videogame. Wild, a rocker, unpredictable, a little scary.

Mrs. Linda Underhill: Female, 30s – 50s, a social worker.

The role of Duke (Duck’s Dad) is CAST.

NOTE: All characters speak in a Scottish dialect.

Seeking:

Andy Warhol: Male, 30-40, Tenor; approx. low Bb to high A (2 8ves). American artist, painter, underground filmmaker, public figure, and celebrity who was a central figure in the Pop art movement. The cultivation of the character ‘Andy Warhol’ was perhaps his greatest work of art.

Candy Darling: Male, 18-30, Baritenor/Countertenor; male range- approx. low G# to high A (2 8ves); female range- approx. low G high Eb (1.5 8ves). A beautiful, glamorous pre-op transsexual who acted in several Warhol films and was part of his entourage in the late 60s. She models herself after the Blonde Bombshells of early Hollywood.

Valerie Solanis: Female, 20-30, Alto; approx. low F#- high F (2 8ves). Radical feminist writer and founder of a “group” called S.C.U.M. (the Society for Cutting Up Men, she was also the only member). A street hustler and sometimes hooker, she is intelligent, outspoken and often shocking. She became famous for shooting Andy Warhol.

Edie Sedgwick: Female, 18-25, Soprano; approx. low A- high A (2 8ves). Heiress, drug addict, sometime model, style icon of the sixties, Warhol Superstar. With Andy she was half of the most desired social pair in New York in 1965. The ultimate Poor Little Rich Girl.

Viva: Female, 20-28, Mezzo-soprano; approx. low G- high A (2 8ves). Warhol Superstar of the late sixties, she starred in many of Andy’s films, often in sexual situation. She is intelligent, educated, and well-spoken, but can be very unpredictable.

“Pope” Ondine: Male, 20-30, Baritone; approx. low F- high F# (2 8ves). Ondine was a central figure in the Silver Factory and the leader of the amphetamine driven culture there. He is known for histrionics and adores opera, particularly Maria Callas. He is wry, oversexed, intelligent, and bitchy.

Gerard Malanga: Male, 20-30, Baritenor; approx. low Bb- high G# (2 8ves). Andy’s first assistant and collaborator, working with him on silkscreens; he also acted in many of Andy’s films. A poet and artist, he brought in many of those who became the Factory regulars.
