PREPARATION

1 or 2 (contrasting) monologue(s) not to exceed three minutes OR for musical audition, 1 monologue and one song not to exceed three minutes. If interested in a musical audition, an accompanist will be provided between 1:30pm – 5:30pm. Clearly marked music will be required for the accompanist.

This is a co-production that originates at Cincinnati Playhouse then moves to Center Stage Theatre in Baltimore.

This electrifying Tony Award-winning musical relives the evening when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley has the greatest jam session in history. All leads must play instruments appropriate to their characters.

Jerry Lee Lewis: 20, Rock ‘n’ Roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated Last Man Standing.
Sam Phillips: 33, the Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll and founder of Sun Records; discovered Jerry Lee Lewis,
Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and many others. A towering and charismatic
figure in American music.
Carl Perkins: 24, lead guitar player, the first poet of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Johnny Cash: 24, guitar player, a giant of American music at the dawn of his epic career.
Dyanne: mid-20’s, an aspiring singer, Elvis’s girlfriend.
Elvis Presley: 21, guitar, the first and still undisputed King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Mr. Joy’s shoe repair shop has been a pillar of the Harlem community. After he is attacked, we learn the subtly profound and unassuming impact the Chinese immigrant has had on the lives of nine of his customers – all brought to life by one actress.

4. SOONER/LATER

Performs: 3/24/18 – 4/22/18

When teenage daughter Lexie helps her reluctant single mother Nora re-enter the dating scene, an unlikely suitor emerges in Griff – the guy at the coffee shop who inadvertently witnesses Nora’s string of unsuccessful dates. As choices collide with coincidences and longing mixes with reality, each character must face the complications that always arise in the search for intimacy and the closeness of family. This captivating world premiere with a metaphysical twist navigates the paths of romance, marriage and parenting while exploring the pains and pleasures of all three.

5. MURDER FOR TWO

Who killed the great American novelist Arthur Whitney? Found dead in his isolated, rural mansion on the night of his surprise birthday party, every guest has a motive – their dirty little secrets the unwilling and barely veiled subject of the author’s bestsellers. Was the killer his loopy, scene-stealing widow? His overly curious niece? The too-friendly psychiatrist? Or the glamorous, but menacing, prima ballerina? One actor plays the overwhelmed detective while another takes on all of the suspects, creating a zany, musical comedy whodunit.

AVAILABLE ROLES:
“Murder for Two” is performed by two piano-playing actors.

Marcus Moscowicz: An ambitious young officer who also provides voices to 2 characters in flashback.
The Suspects: Plays up to 10 different suspects who vary in age and station.
