(Rock-Style Tenor) – American chess champion. 30s. Tempermental, overly theatrical.

Florence:

(Mezzo/Belt) – Gregor’s young daughter. Late 20s early 30s. In adulthood, acts as Freddie’s second.

Anatoly Sergievsky:

(Baritone) – Russia chess champion. 40s Married to Svetlana, but falls in love with Florence.

Ivan Molokov:

(Bass) – Anatoly’s second. 40s – 50s. Russian

Walter:

(Bass/Baritone) – Freddie’s agent, late 30s. Crass, commercial. Secretly works for the C.I.A.

Arbiter:

(Rock-Style High Baritone) – Judge of chess championship. 30s – 40s

Svetlana:

(Mezzo/Belt) – Antaloy’s Wife. 35- early 40s. Russian.
