Joe B. Maudlin:
Double Bass/ electric bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Under 25. Serious, square young man with musical ability. must be able to sing and act.
Jerry Allison:
Drummer, under 25, from Lubbock, Texas. Good looking, irrepressible, clever and sharp with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
Tommy Alsopp the 4th Cricket:
Strong guitar player who sings and acts. Under 25.
Instrumentalists Who Act:
2 men: A male saxophone and a male trombone player who act. Theatre intends the characters to be age 20 to 50. Please note instrument on resume. Singing ability optional but an advantage.
Maria Elena Holly:
Attractive, under 25. Of Hispanic background, classy well educated. Must be able to sing and move well. Musical ability would be an advantage.
The Big Bopper (A.K.A. J.P. Richardson):
A former DJ he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger than life character. A tall, large man, with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace.” Must be able to act multiple roles.
Ritchie Valens:
Good looking, under 25 and of Hispanic background. Ritchie is an attractive handsome boy with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies and the ability to hold the stage in his own right. His key song is “La Bamba.” Must be able to act.
Hipockets Duncan:
20-40 an exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be distinctive and memorable. Singing ability optional but an advantage.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE CAST SEEING POSSIBLE FUTURE REPLACEMENTS ONLY
Buddy Holly:
Singer song writer and star from Lubbock, Texas. Buddy is intelligent, charismatic warm and appealing. Must read under 25. Must play guitar, sing and act and have a feel for Rock and Roll and have serious star potential and a desire to live as a rock and roll superstar every night. Starts out as a laid back country boy and builds into a rock n roll superstar.
Norman Petty:
Under 35, a record producer from Clovis, New Mexico with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and play keyboard, and country fiddle.
Vi Petty:
Under 35, the wife of Norman with a heart of gold. Vi must be able to sing and act and have exceptional Rock and Roll Keyboards ability, play trumpet, and have a good sense of humor.
Apollo Singer:
African American male with the ability to hold the stage on their own. Key song “Party.” Must have good comic timing and be able to act.
