AUDITION NOTE:
In addition to the sides, actors will need to prepare a minute to minute and a half long comedic rap and 16 Bars of a R&B Song to be sung a cappella. The rap can be a pre-existing song or a monologue (Shakespearean or other) that they've turned into a rap.
BOMB-itty of ERRORS is a hip-hop musical version of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. The rhymed poetry of Shakespeare’s time is updated to the hip-hop poetry of our time as two sets of twins from Ephesus and Syracuse seek their love and fortune.
NOTE:
All actors MUST be extremely comfortable with verse, text, and have a familiarity and facility with hip-hop. Actors must be able to play multiple roles; both male and female. This is a contemporary urban version with broadly drawn yet well acted characters.
Seeking:
Dromio Of Ephesus/ Luciana:
20s. 5’10” or shorter, slight build. Character will be cast as an African American, Asian, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern man. He is the brother and aide to Antipholus of Ephesus, and Identical twin to Dromio of Syracuse. Seeking an actor who possesses strong comedic skills, facile with text and the ability to create distinct characters. Actor must be a great rapper and a competent hip-hop dancer.
Antipholus Of Syracuse/Hendelberg/Etc.:
20s. Character will be cast as an African American, Asian, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern man. He is a wandering hip hop artist searching to make his name in the world. He ends up in the city of Ephesus where he is mistaken for his lost identical twin also named Antipholus. Also plays Hendelberg, the Abess and others. Seeking an actor with excellent comedic timing who must be able to handle complex rhymes and rhythms and the ability to create distinct characters. Actor must be a great rapper and a competent hip-hop dancer.
