Mary:

30s. Until the final reveal, we only get glimpses of the true Mary. Although beautiful, she is just a little “off” from what society expects her to be. Perhaps a mild case of autism or Asperger’s is part of this… She is very awkward in social and professional situations. Also part of this is a deeply buried and secretive need. She is now faced with the pressures of getting the perfect job and marrying the perfect man. Yet to do so, she would have to live as a liar for the rest of her life. We watch as a suffocated woman struggles to allow her true-self stand and be seen in the harsh light of day.

Mike:

30s, any ethnicity, Blue collar, hardworking, honest, Jersey for life, construction worker. He is physically powerful. He may be a bit gruff, but he is very kind and gentle despite the rage he feels from abuse suffered as a child. He is trying so hard to do everything right by Mary, and have the life he thinks they both truly want. (Thick working class Jersey dialect)

Alan:

30s, any ethnicity, Similar to his lifelong best friend, Mike, he is a Jersey through and through, blue collar, hardworking, man’s man. Alan may not be the brightest guy on the surface, but he is street-smart and instinctive. Having badly hurt Mike in the past, Alan has grown over-protective and suspicious of anyone or anything that could hurt his best friend. (Thick working class Jersey dialect)
