Kenneth Kenny Bernard Watson (10)-African-American. A fourth grader at Clark Elementary

Byron Watson (13)-Kenny's juvenile delinquent older brother who's also a bully but knows how to stick up for his younger brother when he needs to.

Joetta Joey Watson (5)-African-American. She is the younger sister to Kenny and Byron.

Daniel Watson (40s)-African American. He is husband to Wilona and father to Kenny, Byron, and Joetta.

Wilona Watson (40s)-African-American. Wife of Daniel and mother to Kenny, Byron, and Joetta. A native Alabamian who is an outsider in her own family-she is the only one in the Watson clan not to be born and raised in Flint, MI.

GLENN / INSTRUMENTALIST (50s/60s) - ROLE CAST. Glenn is a Vermont man of few words. A grounded leader in the local farm community. Instruments: guitar, banjo, mandolin.

KIM / DOCTOR (50s/60s) - Kim radiates tireless, salt-of-the-earth energy. A 1970s Middlebury alumnus, pioneer of the American CSA movement. A realist and dreamer at the same time. Instruments: violin and/or accordion.

GABRIELA / MO (30s)- ROLE CAST. A young mother spending her second winter in Vermont working at a large dairy operation. Combating her loneliness with creativity. DOUBLES AS MO (22) - A college student/farm employee… undecided in all ways. Instruments: guitar.

MATT / HUNTER (30s) - A millennial who recently moved to the Upper Valley with his young family. Beaten down by the sobering reality of running his own farm, but trying to keep his dreams (and relationship) alive. DOUBLES AS HUNTER (20) - a farm employee forced to work at the farm to stay out of trouble. Instruments: guitar, mandolin, banjo.

KENZA / TARA (30s) - Recently moved to the area with her husband and their young child. Reconciling a passion for sustainability and her own burnout. DOUBLES AS TARA (21) - an enthusiastic college student/ farm employee who is certain that her path in life is to become a career farmer (and yours should be as well). Instruments: violin or bass.

Jenna - 20s-30s, a waitress stuck in an unhappy marriage in a small town. She finds creative outlet and expresses her sense of humor through baking.

Dr. Pomatter - 30s-40s, endearing and slightly neurotic OBGYN. Develops a massive crush on Jenna, despite being married.

Becky - 40s-50s, the elder of the three waitresses, she has a dark sense of humor and has seen it all. Dawn - 20s, the youngest of the three waitresses, quirky and anxious about any risk taking. Ogie - 30s, strange but loveable, falls in love with Dawn after a 5-minute date and is persistent.

Earl - 20s-30s, peaked in high school, drinks too much. Narcissism mixed with an explosive temper. Joe - 50s-70s - the owner of the diner. A curmudgeon that has a soft spot for Jenna and her pies. Cal - 30s-40s - the cook at the diner. Blunt but lovable.
