Edgar and Vinny are not racist. In fact, Edgar maintains a blog condemning American imperialism and Vinny is three-quarters into a PhD in Black Studies. When a young Filipina woman named Asuncion becomes their new roommate, the pair have a perfect opportunity to demonstrate how open-minded they truly are. New play explores the complicated ways we exploit culture and politics for our own needs.

Seeking (all roles are available unless otherwise specified):

Vinny:

Mid - late 20s. Logical, but condescending towards Edgar. Has a lot of common sense, but teases Edgar a lot and acts like an asshole. Edgar's TA a few years ago, and is letting him stay with him as a favor, but he is constantly annoyed by him being there. Immediately hits it off with Asuncion, and is very protective of her.

Asuncion:

Filipina, mid 20s. Beautiful, confident, friendly. Stuart’s wife. Stays with Edgar and Vinny for a week. Finds Edgar to be weird, but is never mean to him. Quickly bonds with Vinny. Comes across as “one of the guys”, Extremely loving and easy to get along with.

Stuart:

Late 20s. Edgar’s mature older brother. Stockbroker. Dislikes the way Vinny treats Edgar in the beginning, but soon remembers how childish Edgar is. Wants Edgar to stop acting like an idiot, but still loves him. Protective of Asuncion.

Edgar:

CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. Early - mid 20s. Naïve, ignorant, reckless, awkward. Stuart’s younger brother; Vinny's roommate. Acts like a smart-aleck, but in reality is very immature. Unemployed, but professes to want to be an important journalist. Uptight, but comes off as an asshole. Worships Vinny, and will do anything to make him happy.
