MARCH MADNESS by Mike Vogel. Dir: Donald Brenner. 1st reh: 10/2/12. Closes 11/18.
Maury:
Mid 60s. Trade newspaper reporter – irascible, a “No BS” regular guy with a put-upon edge who is determined to escape the drudgery of his workaday life and not let the world keep him down.
Kim:
Mid 30s - late 40s. Newspaper proofreader. Her outward nervous concern for her future masks a kind woman who has led a rough life but still harbors a glimmer of hope for a better life.
Nick:
30s. Advertising sales director – well-coiffed, arrogant and hard-driving.
Kyle:
Early - mid 30s. Trade newspaper reporter – optimistic in the face of adversity; sweet and polite to a fault, but with tension brimming under the surface; a good husband and a new dad.
Herb:
40s-50s. The editorial director – a nervous, equivocating rabbit caught between an angry staff and an unreasonable, demanding boss. Determined to hold onto his job.

Louise Finch:
37. Middle-class Staten Islander. Wears glasses, and is both socially awkward and unnoticed.
Woman:
Multi-character track for one actress. Characters are 50-65 and include Stella: Barfly. Doreen: Chirpy and energetic home health aide. Carlotta: Mad fortune-teller. Ann Wordsmith: Dowager. Marie Samuels: Attractive woman in sunglasses.
Man:
Multi-character track for one actor. Characters are 50-65 and include George Kaplan: Tough guy who is out of commission but still intimidating. Collins: Drunk professor. David Wordsmith: Chairman of the Board.
Young Woman:
Multi-character track for one actress. Characters are 25-34 and include Caroline: Staten Island office worker. Nova: Girl in recovery. Pamela: Curious and mercurial Midwesterner. Nurse: Seductive.
Young Man:
Multi-character track for one actor. Characters are 25-34 and include Scottie: Louise's brother. Meth addict who still has traces of his angelic appeal. Richard: Friendly Midwesterner. Bill Forest: An odd sort who does odd jobs.
Staten Island Bartender / Juan Garza:
One actor plays both characters (Latinos, 40-45). Garza: Dominican. Detective. Good-looking, but not dangerously so.
