Emotionally rich play about Jay and Phyllis, a young Upper West Side Orthodox couple who have managed to find a precarious equilibrium in their complicated personal and religious lives. However, that delicate balance is severely tested when Dr. Stuart Weinstein, a gay and newly Orthodox man, invades their lives. This play deals with three intelligent, opinionated people who have a deep love of their religion and also an enormous love of learning and questioning even authority points of view. At times these separate loves ferociously clash in a contemporary story of betrayal and new beginnings.

Phyllis Berman:

Early - mid 30s, Caucasian. Attractive. While she has a slightly private demeanor, underneath she’s a pit-bull. Though somewhat prudish, she has a deep reservoir of enjoying the absurdities of life. Intelligent, extremely curious, outspoken, opinionated. Has an enormous love of learning—and of Judaism. Grew up on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Helpful if the actress has an understanding of Judaism and is able to authentically say the prayers (which are written into the script in English letters, but need correct Hebrew pronunciation).
