Matrix Theatre Company continues its 2016 - 2017 Mainstage Season with Lisa Kron's autobiographical one-woman show, 2.5 Minute Ride, opening November 11 and running through December 4. The production runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. All performances are presented at Matrix Theatre Company, located at 2730 Bagley Street in the heart of Mexicantown. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors and may be purchased in advance or, if available, at the door. Group rates are also available. For further information or to purchase tickets, visit www.matrixtheatre.org or call (313) 967-0599.

Life is a roller coaster for Tony Award winner, Lisa Kron. 2.5 Minute Ride races and glides from comedy to tragedy and back again, interweaving stories of family weddings, amusement park vacations, and a visit to Auschwitz with a father who survived the Holocaust. This autobiographical one-woman show brings wit and wonder to our means of processing trauma and the highs and lows of daily life. 2.5 Minute Ride is directed by David Wolber (Detroit) and stars Luna Alexander (Ferndale).

"What I love most about this script is how Lisa Kron has taken such a specific and personal story about her father and juxtaposed such warmth and humor alongside one of the darkest events in history," said director David Wolber. "This brilliantly scripted piece, put into the hands of incredibly talented and charismatic performer Luna Alexander, will be a deeply moving and joyously thoughtful treat for Southeast Michigan audiences. I'm proud of Matrix Theatre Company for continuing to produce such important and meaningful work."

The final dress rehearsal on Thursday, November 10 is a "Pay What You Can" performance. Beginning this season and to help eliminate the barrier between audiences and Live Theatre, patrons can choose to pay whatever amount they want at the door to see the preview show of 2.5 Minute Ride. Tickets will be available that evening only on a first-come-first- served basis and cannot be purchased or reserved in advance. Doors open at 7:30PM for the 8PM performance.
