Theatre & Dance at Wayne will present the premiere of Sarah Ruhl's dark comedy Dead Man's Cell Phone to open the 2013-2014 season at the Studio Theatre, October 17 - 26, 2013.
"The play is about life connections, being truthful with yourself, and with the people who love you. And, the fact is, you're loved whether you're a good person or not," said Director Jen Goff, a PhD candidate in Theatre at Wayne State University.
Dead Man's Cell Phone reflects the bizarre life of a hopeless romantic who believes herself to be madly in love rather than acknowledging her infatuations. While dining at a café, Jean is annoyed by a stranger's ringing cell phone. When she approaches the stranger seated across from her and answers his phone, she realizes that he is actually dead. Although horrified, Jean falls passionately, deeply in love with him and dedicates her life to keeping memory of him alive by answering his cell phone.
