Trojan Players to Perform Fort Worth's First Production of 'Next to Normal'

Student theatre group The Trojan Players will produce Fort Worth's first production of "Next to Normal" April 24-27 at Trinity Valley School's Black Box Theatre.

This production of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical will be the show's debut in Tarrant County. It will be directed and performed entirely by high school students.

"Next to Normal" follows the story of a mother's mental illness and its effects on her family. The rock musical features music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. It won three Tony Awards and became the eighth musical in history to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2010.

The Trojan Players' production is directed and choreographed by Hana Smith. The assistant director is Lucy Gamades, and Charlie H. Ray is the music director.

Kate Kowalski leads the cast as Diana Goodman. Chris Miller plays Dan Goodman; Charlie H. Ray plays Gabe Goodman; Maggie Jorgenson plays Natalie Goodman. Additional cast members include Chris Distler as Henry, Julianna Keller as Dr. Madden and Nick Parkinson as Dr. Fine.

Performance dates are Thursday, April 24-Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale March 31 and can be purchased by emailing drama@trinityvalleyschool.org. Ticket prices are $5-10.

Trinity Valley School is located at 7500 Dutch Branch Road, Fort Worth.
