"LITERARY AND NEW PLAY DEVELOPMENT APPRENTICESHIPS American Theater Company offers a six-month apprenticeship in both Literary Management and New Play Development. I am seeking a Musical Director for an August production of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Auditions will be April 21 and 23, with a rehearsal schedule beginning in May. The show will run in August. The Musical Director will have primary responsibility for teaching the show to the cast, coaching vocals, accompanying (or arranging for accompaniment) for rehearsals, and leading/playing in the pit. We will be using an alternative orchestration based on the Pierrot ensemble (Flute/Picc, Clar/Bass Cl., Violin, Cello, Piano and Percussion). Some of the pit has already been recruited.
