DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Florida Studio Theatre, a professional LORT D theatre located in the heart of downtown Sarasota, FL with an annual operating budget of $10.5 million, seeks an experienced Director of Development to build, direct, and manage fundraising initiatives and advancing our mission.

The Director of Development oversees all aspects of the annual fund, institutional giving and patron events. This position works with the senior leadership team to create and implement annual and long-term fundraising strategies to advance the work of the theatre.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of all FST’s Fundraising campaigns including operating, capital and endowment. FST’s currently operates at a 70% earned/30% unearned ratio. In addition, FST is engaged in a $57 million-dollar capital fundraising campaign (currently $35 million secured).
  • Maintain an active donor portfolio of approximately 150 individuals at the $5,000 Co-Producer level and above, with a goal of growing this donor base.
  • Cultivate and solicit gifts to meet budgetary goals.
  • Build individual and community relationships.
  • Conduct prospect research and analysis to identify new major donors and to strategize moves and management of the existing donor pool.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of multi-year special project campaigns including capital, legacy, and endowment.

The ideal candidate must be a skilled communicator with superior interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. A familiarity and a passion for the performing arts. The ability to interact well with major gift donors and prospects. CRM database experience, preferably Tessitura or other fundraising software. Flexibility to work several nights and weekends as needed. One should have great time management, organizational and leadership skills with a minimum of six years of fundraising experience. A committed interest in the values that can help build and sustain an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace. 

Salary $85,000-$125,000 (Commensurate with experience).

ARTISTIC ASSOCIATE

Florida Studio Theatre, a LORT D regional theatre in Sarasota, FL, is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Artistic Associate with significant Directing experience.

This position will direct 2-4 plays a year, be heavily involved in New Play Development, as well as lead adult classes as part of FST’s School for Adults.

The right candidate will be passionate about theatre, responsible, a team player, flexible and confident. Strong writing, computer and management skills are a must.  At least 10 years of professional theatre experience or an equivalent is preferred.

This is a full-time, open-ended staff position with a yearly salary. The candidate selected must be available to relocate to Sarasota for the duration of their tenure.

Work is traditionally Monday-Friday from 9-6PM but evenings and weekends are necessary when on a show schedule.

Salary range: $50,000-$60,000/yr

MARKETING ASSOCIATE

The Marketing Associate at Florida Studio Theatre plays a pivotal role in supporting the administrative functions and operations of the Marketing Department. Key responsibilities include creating sales-related email blasts, contributing as a writer for FST newsletters, and supporting the annual ad sales campaign. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, including writing, presenting, and pitching, and can place stories within consumer, industry, and blog press. Additionally, the Marketing Associate will serve as the lead editor and proofreader for all Florida Studio Theatre publications, ensuring content is error-free and aligns with brand guidelines. This role requires a high degree of creativity and initiative, with the ability to develop innovative marketing strategies and campaigns. The Marketing Associate will uphold the Florida Studio Theatre brand and standards across all channels, maintaining consistency in messaging and design.

Organizational Structure:
The Marketing Associate reports to the Director of Marketing

Responsibilities:

  • Write and disseminate press releases and media alerts.
  • Be responsible for all media archiving, both hard copies and electronic.
  • Maintain/build relations with outside organizations by attending local networking events.
  • Manage marketing call campaigns, including scheduling call campaign support, pulling lists, tracking responses, and managing campaign pace.
  • Oversee and contribute to the digital content of our blog.
  • Oversee in-house publications, including quarterly and weekly newsletters.
  • Execute all patron relations calls and emails, including post-show survey emails, parking calls and emails, dining email surveys.
  • Write and record curtain speeches for our productions.
  • Support overall marketing department in achieving its goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior work experience in a communications or marketing department preferred. Strong internship experience considered.
  • Knowledge of media or public relations practices preferred.
  • Strong writing, speaking, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented a must.
  • Must be able to work independently, after direct supervision.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative team workplace.
  • Self-starter with ability to independently initiate and follow through with opportunities.
  • Familiarity with, and interest in, theatre and/or arts and culture strongly preferred.

Salary: $42,000-$48,000/year based on experience

COMPANY MANAGER

Florida Studio Theatre, a dynamic professional LORT D regional theatre, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Company Manager. FST is Sarasota’s contemporary theatre, comprised of a village of five theatres located in the heart of Downtown, Sarasota.

The Right candidate will have a high degree of responsibility, be focused, achievement oriented, able to communicate clearly, detailed and organized. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Company Manager reports directly to the Production Manager and works hand-in-hand with the Facilities and Production teams to oversee 20+ residences.

This position often involves night and weekend work. Being on call (using company cell phone) is required 5 days a week. Days off are Friday and Saturday.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Handling housing, transportation, and hospitality for all guest artists from the point of post-hiring through departure.
  • Arranging & booking travel. This includes - providing itineraries, preparing housing, coordinating an outside cleaning company and facilitating airport pickups.
  • Serving as FST’s Ambassador to all guests consisting of - casts, design teams, the intern company and others.
  • Maintaining company vehicles.
  • Managing inventory of housing/hospitality items.
  • Executing biweekly walk-thrus of all housing.
  • Supervising the Company Management Intern
  • Serving as the contact point between renters/guest artists and the Facilities Team
  • Overseeing budgets and Purchase Orders

Candidate must have:

  • A valid driver’s license .
  • The ability to work independently and exercise decision making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 Salary range: $38,000-$45,000/yr

FACILITIES MECHANIC

Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota seeks a highly skilled Facilities Mechanic. The full-time work is primarily repair and scheduled preventative maintenance followed by projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Ability to Lift 50lbs.
  • Skills in plumbing, HVAC, electrical and carpentry
  • Knowledge of commercial and decorative lighting including neon, LED and fluorescent
  • Ability in branch electrical service and installation work including replacement of panel breakers.
  • Ability to prioritize repair work daily.
  • Experience in diagnosing HVAC troubles.
  • Ability to work from ladders including a-frame and extension.
  • Access to tools
  • Basic understanding of CCMS or Upkeep software

Monday- Friday work week, with availability to come in on weekends if needed to address any Facilities related issues.

Salary range: $25-$26.75/hr.

Hiring experienced servers for our dining service. Florida Studio Theatre is a live professional theatre with several restaurants and we serve food before the shows. Looking for fun and energetic people to join our team serving food and drinks before our shows. Servers must be reliable, able to work in a fast paced environment and be available on evenings and weekends.
