TCG to Publish 2012 Pulitzer Prize Winner WATER BY THE SPOONFUL, Sept 2012

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of Quiara Alegria Hudes's Water by the Spoonful, the 2012 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play, which will be available in paperback and hardcover, premiered at Hartford Stage in Hartford, CT in 2011 and will receive its Off-Broadway premiere at New York City's Second Stage Theatre in winter 2012. Barbra Streisand's private music vault holds all the master tapes she's recorded for five decades. Now, she's sharing 11 previously unreleased songs, spanning a cross-section of her career from 1963 to the present. Andrea Marcovicci Releases SMILE Album; Performs at Cafe Carlyle, 10/2-27

Andrea Marcovicci, the acclaimed singer and actress, has announced the release of her first CD of new material in five years, Smile, on her own label Andreasong. The new recoding her is based on her show of the same name that will be performed at New York's famed Cafe Carlyle from October 2 to 27 after hit runs in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. The digital only EP features a selection of hand-picked and fan-favorite tracks from seasons 3 and 4 of the Sony Pictures Television dramedy, an original recording by 'Drop Dead Diva' series regular Margaret Cho and a new score suite by series composer Scott Starrett. The album also features an exclusive track by The Daylights titled 'The Last Thing We'll Ever Do' and is available for download only days before the highly anticipated fourth season finale of 'Drop Dead Diva' on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9pm on Lifetime. BWW TV: Inside the Making of John Wilson Orchestra’s THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT Album; Release Set for 9/25

EMI Classics has just announced the U.S. release of The John Wilson Orchestra's That's Entertainment: A Celebration of the MGM Film Musical. World renowned conductor and arranger John Wilson leads an all-star cast of singers and his Grammy® Award-nominated eponymous orchestra, comprised of some of the UK's finest musicians, on this dazzling recording of some of the greatest songs from Hollywood's Golden Age. Most of the scores have been lovingly and painstakingly reconstructed by Wilson, as MGM destroyed the originals in 1969. This is the first time the songs, including "Singin' in the Rain", "Steppin' Out with My Baby", "The Trolley Song", and title track "That's Entertainment", have been recorded in their intended orchestration since the films' original soundtrack recordings. That's Entertainment, also features a world-class cast of singers including Kim Criswell, Matthew Ford, Sarah Fox, Seth MacFarlane (the creator of Family Guy) and Curtis Stigers. The Standard Edition CD, a Deluxe Edition and a DVD of the 2009 BBC Proms, which launched John Wilson to fame in his native UK, is currently featured as part of a major national PBS pledge drive in August and September, will be available through all stores and online retailers on September 25th, 2012. According to the New York Times, Doubleday will soon publish a biography of recently deceased playwright Gore Vidal. Jay Parini, a friend of Vidal's for many years, will write the book, which is planned to be released in 2015. (more...)
