For celebrities, philanthropy offers a chance to give back to society by opening their hearts and wallets. But who are some of the nation's most charitable stars and what are their favorite causes? WIOD radio personality Keith Singer's new radio segment "Making a Difference," offers high profile guests who are giving back to their communities an open mic to discuss their philanthropy and charitable involvement. Among his recent guests have been Comedienne Joan Rivers who discussed her favorite charity; God's Love We Deliver and Philanthropist Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Founder of Best Buddies International.
Joining Keith Saturday, August 30th at 5:48 pm EST on 610 WIOD, is actor Patrick Dempsey. Best known as McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy, Dempsey is also one of Hollywood's most visible cycling evangelists. Dempsey, also an avid race car driver, started pro cycling after his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Host Keith Singer interviews him about how riding changed his life, The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and his annual fundraising ride, The Dempsey Challenge which rolls out of Lewiston, Maine, on September 27 th and 28th.
The "Making a Difference," segment broadcasts on Clear Channel affiliate 610 WIOD, one of the largest radio stations in South Florida - reaching a significant affluent audience in the tri-county area. "Our goal is to raise awareness about some great organizations and encourage even more philanthropy among celebrities," Singer said.
