OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network scored its highest rated month in network history in Primetime in August across all key demos delivering +23% growth in total viewers, +26% growth in W25-54 and +27% African American women 25-54 versus last month. OWN ranked as a Top 20 ad-supported cable network for the month in women 25-54 and for three consecutive months, OWN has ranked as a top three cable network for African-American women 25-54.
The network highs were driven by OWN's popular series including its first scripted shows from Tyler Perry, "The Haves and The Have Nots" (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) and "Love Thy Neighbor," (Wednesdays at 9 p.m.) as well as the return to the Primetime lineup of "Iyanla: Fix My Life" (Saturdays at 9 p.m.), "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" (Saturdays at 10 p.m.) and "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" (Sundays at 10 p.m.) in addition to the network's flagship series "Oprah's Next Chapter" (Sundays at 9 p.m.).
Below are the nightly August ratings highlights.
Tuesdays
"The Haves and The Have Nots" (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) has grown for six consecutive weeks in the key female demo scoring its highest rated episode on August 20 with a 1.76 W25-54 rating. It was also the #1 telecast in series history for African-American women 25-54 (10.77 rating). For the third week in a row, the series has averaged over two million viewers and for four straight weeks it has ranked as Tuesday night's #3 telecast on cable for women 25-54 making OWN a top five cable network for the month of August on Tuesday nights.
Wednesdays
"Love Thy Neighbor" (Wednesdays at 9 p.m.) is averaging over 1 million weekly viewers and has propelled OWN to rank as the #1 network on Wednesday nights for African-American women 25-54 for the third consecutive month.
Saturdays
On Saturday nights in August, OWN ranked as a top 10 cable network for women 25-54 and the #2 network in all of television for African-American women 25-54 led by "Iyanla: Fix My Life" (Saturdays at 9 p.m.) and "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" (Saturdays at 10 p.m.). On August 25, "Iyanla: Fix My Life" was the #1 cable telecast for African-American women 18-49. "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" is currently averaging double-digit ratings gains versus its previous season last fall, up +18% W25-54 and up +10% in total viewers (.78 W25-54, 861,000 total viewers).
Sundays
Oprah's interview with Tina Turner on "Oprah's Next Chapter" (Sunday, August 25 at 9 p.m.) delivered 1 million total viewers and a .71 W25-54 rating. Oprah's interview Lindsay Lohan on August 18 scored 892,000 total viewers and a .66 W25-54 rating, reaching 1.8 million viewers for the 9 p.m. premiere and 10 p.m. encore. "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" (Sundays at 10 p.m.) delivered a series high on August 11 at 10 p.m. delivering a .59 W25-54 rating and 892,000 total viewers. The series is currently averaging double-digit ratings gains versus its previous season, up +73% W25-54 and up +85% in total viewers (.52 W25-54, 714,000 total viewers).
