This week's THEATER TALK looks at the outrageous, funny and incisive new play, Robert Askin's Hand to God, which just opened to critical acclaim at Broadway's Booth Theatre, and 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company, a New York theatrical home for Sabbath-Observant Jews.

Hand to God guests are its star, Steven Boyer - who portrays an unhappy teenager, Jason, attending a Christian puppet-making workshop in Texas, where his sock-puppet becomes possessed by the devil - director Moritz von Stuelpnagel, and playwright Askin. The three talk about the play's long developmental trek to Broadway via off-Broadway where it earned awards and accolades. Jason's puppet Tyrone also drops by during the interview to have a punchy conversation with co-host Michael Riedel.

Next up, Yoni Oppenheim and Avi Soroka, Directors and Co-Founders of 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company, discuss their group, created for those who cannot attend or work on shows between sundown on Fridays and sundown on Saturdays. They also discuss their early apprenticeship to THEATER TALK and its contribution to their education and careers.

Hosted by Riedel and Susan Haskins, this episode premieres in the New York metropolitan area Friday, April 10 (2015) at 1 AM (Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS, and continues on CUNY TV* Saturday 4/11 at 8:30 PM, Sunday 4/12 at 12:30 PM, and Monday 4/13 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.
