After eight weeks of intense competition, Telemundo's "Top Chef Estrellas" reached its finale last night, crowning Gabriel Coronel as the winner of the second season. During the last episode of the exciting competition, the young telenovela actor and singer from Venezuela faced Mexican TV personality, Judith Grace, in the "Top Chef" kitchen in Boston, Massachusetts. The artist raised a total of $60,000 for "Amigos for Kids," a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect.
For their last challenge, Judith and Gabriel had to prepare three different dishes with help from THE KITCHEN sous chefs, judged by the three celebrity Chefs, Lorena García, Jaime Martin del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, as well as other renowned Hispanic chefs, including Chef James Tahhan from Telemundo's morning show, "Un Nuevo Día."
"I am absolutely thrilled and excited with this unique experience! It was a huge learning experience and one that I will never forget," commented Coronel. "I feel proud knowing that I'll bring smiles to many children," he added, full of emotion when referring to the funds that will be donated to "Amigos For Kids."
Gabriel Coronel has become one of the biggest breakout stars in Spanish-language television. In addition to his participation in "Top Chef Estrellas," the young actor made a special appearance in Telemundo's primetime telenovela"Reina de Corazones" in 2014. Gabriel joined the network in 2011 to star in "Relaciones Peligrosas," where he not only played the role of Mauricio Blanco, but also sang the theme song titled "Una vez más." Gabriel's talent and professionalism led him to become the first artist signed as part of an association between Telemundo and Warner Music Latina to launch a new music project.The artist from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, debuted his first single, 'Desnudo,' on Telemundo's telenovela "Marido en Alquiler" - where he also portrayed the of the character of Antonio Carrasco. 'Desnudo' debuted top #7 on the sales charts in its debut week.
"Top Chef Estrellas" was hosted by famous cooking expert and TV personality, Ingrid Hoffmann. The Latino stars competing during this second season were: Gabriel Coronel, Judith Grace, Gabriela Vergara, Kimberly Dos Ramos, Sissi Fletas, Maripily Rivera, Fabian Rios, Don Pedro Rivera, Henry Santos and Fernando Vargas.
