4th Annual Inwood Film Festival Set To Showcase Collection Of Films Celebrating Diverse Inwood Community

Inwood Art Works, a nonprofit organization that creates and curates professional performing and visual arts in the Inwood community, is announcing its outstanding program for the fourth annual Inwood Film Festival. The festival will span three full days from March 14-16, at the Campbell Sports Center located in Inwood at 218th Street and Broadway, showcasing 33 films. Notably, the festival includes over half its films (18) made by women and under-represented demographics in the film industry - including 10 world premieres. The focus of the Inwood Film Festival is to celebrate Inwood and its surrounding community through the moving image. All films submitted to the Inwood Film Festival must be shot in Inwood or its surrounding community or made by past or present residents of Inwood or its surrounding community.

The Inwood Film Festival will kick off on Thursday, March 14th with an Opening Night Benefit featuring a special screening of Love, Gilda produced and directed by local Inwood Filmmaker Lisa D'Apolito, post-show interview with WNYC's Brian Lehrer, live stand-up comedy, and delicious food and beverages provided by Indian Road Café.

Shorts and Feature Films selected into the festival will be presented on Friday, March 15 & Saturday, March 16, 2019. Complete schedule on www.inwoodartworks.nyc.

"The Inwood Film Festival was created to be a homegrown community platform to promote the neighborhood, its residents and its artists," said Aaron Simms, Inwood Art Works' Founder and Executive Producer. "Our film submissions and screening attendance continues to grow steadily year after year. We have a phenomenal selection of work to showcase and are very excited to open the Festival with a special screening of Love, Gilda produced and directed by local Inwood filmmaker Lisa D'Apolito."

In addition to the film screenings, festival goers and film MAKERS will have the opportunity to connect before and after screenings in the Red-Carpet Community Room and through post feature conversations after select screenings. The Inwood Film Festival will conclude on Saturday evening with an award ceremony, highlighting excellence in film making.

Submissions for the 2019 Inwood Film Festival have been accepted for the following four categories:

• Short Shorts - Short films under five minutes about or made in the Inwood community or made by an Inwood community filmmaker.
• Long Shorts - Short films under 25 minutes about or made in the Inwood community or made by an Inwood community filmmaker.
• Feature Films - Feature films about or made in the Inwood community or made by an Inwood community filmmaker.
• Student Films - Student films about or made by current students in/attending school the Inwood community or made by an Inwood community student filmmaker.
