Tenor Luciano Lamonarca realized his new album "The Impossible Dream", in which he explores for the first time the American and Broadway repertoire, recording two of the worldwide famous songs, "Maria" from the musical "West Side Story" and "The Impossible Dream" from "The Man of La Mancha". The latter was used as background in the video he created for the 1st anniversary of the United Nations Academic Impact.
The album includes also the empowering song "My Way", made famous by
Frank Sinatra. In Lamonarca's tenorial version it acquires an even more powerful meaning, due to his emphatic, operatic voice and to the fact that Luciano is a self-made artist - the lyrics of the song resonate with his own life and career.
A special place in his album occupy the two renditions of Ave Maria, one by
Franz Schubert and the other by
Charles Gounod, an emotional tribute to the Virgin Mary and the Catholic spirit. Also, remarkable joy bring the two wonderful Neapolitan Songs, as "O Sole Mio" and "Core 'Ngrato".
The album ends with the most famous operatic aria, "Nessun Dorma",
Luciano Pavarotti's masterpiece.
It is important to mention the partnership between Tenor Luciano Lamonarca and the New York Choral Society's Mini Maestro Program, whereby the tenor will donate part of the proceed of each song sold from now until December 31, 2012. This program enables New York City public school students and their parents to attend performances at
Carnegie Hall at no cost to themselves.
