From June until December this year, the popular Nederburg Concert Series will once again impress with concerts by top international and acclaimed South African musicians. A firm favourite with lovers of excellent music, food and wine, the series has for the last three decades hosted many top names in the world of classical and cross-over music. Presented in the beautiful surroundings of the historical Nederburg Manor House in Paarl, this year's season promises to be no exception.

Two of South Africa's most esteemed classical musicians, soprano Zanne Stapelberg and pianist Albie van Schalkwyk, will join forces at 17h00 on Sunday 29 June, taking the audience on an unforgettable musical journey. No stranger to the Nederburg stage, Stapelberg is known for her remarkable flair to perform different styles of song. Together, the duo will pay tribute to the art song all the way through to popular Afrikaans song.

On Sunday 27 July, the towering talent of 17-year-old pianist Roelof Temmingh is bound to amaze the Nederburg audience. Arguably the youngest performer ever invited to appear at the series, Temmingh recently won the sought after Hennie Joubert National Piano Competition, walking away with the top prize as well as all the category prizes.

For the concert on 24 August, the series will once again partner with the ATKV to present a programme featuring leading South African musicians. The exciting soprano, Caroline Modiba, winner of ATKV-Musiqanto 2013 competition, violinist Zanta Hofmeyr and pianist Philippus Hugo will present a delightful programme of music written for voice, violin and piano.

After a formidable trio of concerts celebrating South African talent, the audience will welcome world-famous clarinet maestro, David Krakauer, on 28 September. Recognized globally for his extraordinary ability to perform from classical repertoire to klezmer to jazz, Krakauer will be accompanied by another familiar face, New York-based South African pianist, Kathleen Tagg. A special programme, exclusively tailored for the Nederburg Concert Series, will be performed.

A piano recital by award-winning Russian pianist, Andrey Pisarev, concludes this year's chamber concerts at Nederburg. Winner of several international music competitions and lauded by music critics all over the world, his performance onSunday 2 November will include the playing of Frederic Chopin's complete 24 Preludes, Opus 8.

Bookings for the chamber music recitals on Sundays at 17h00 can be made at concerts@distell.co.za or by calling Tel. 021 809 8412 during office hours. Tickets, at R200 per person, include sherry on arrival, Nederburg bubbly during interval and canapés and selected Nederburg wines which will be served after the concert.

On Saturday 29 November, the series ventures outdoors for its much anticipated annual picnic concert. With beautiful trees and the Nederburg manor house as natural back-drop, young and old will once again enjoy the picturesque ambience with a great variety of music performed by leading soloists and a full youth symphony orchestra.

The picnic concert starts at 18h00 and gates will open at 16h00 to allow enough time for patrons to find their perfect picnic spots. Tickets are R100 for adults and entry for children under 12 years is free. Scrumptious picnic platters can be ordered in advance and collected before the performance.
