The San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) is seeking an Assistant to the Artistic Director to support the artistic mission of the growing musical organization.

The Assistant to the Artistic Director (AAD) will work under and report to the San Diego Women's Chorus Artistic Director, the acclaimed Kathleen Hansen, and the SDWC Board of Directors. The ideal candidate should possess musical knowledge and experience with techniques used to rehearse and perform choral music, including directing when requested and providing general musical assistance.

The AAD position is part-time, approximately 5-10 hours a week, and the selected candidate must be available for weekly rehearsals on Sunday afternoons from 4-7pm.

Applicants should submit their résumé, two letters of reference (with contact information), and a one page letter of application that includes a statement of interest and strengths to hiring@sdwc.org. The deadline for application packets has been extended to Monday, August 29, 2016.

This is an exciting time to be part of the San Diego Women's Chorus. After a blockbuster involvement in the GALA Festival, SDWC has returned to San Diego and is beginning preparation for their winter concert, "Everything She Touches" in November and the Chorus' 30th Anniversary Concert in Spring 2017. The chorus is eager to welcome someone into the role of Assistant to the Artistic Director to help support the continued musical excellence of the organization. The full job description, as well as more information about the San Diego Women's Chorus, can be found at www.sdwc.org. The job announcement can also be found here: sdwc.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/AAD-Job-Posting-2016-05-19.pdf.

Founded in 1987 by community activist Dr. Cynthia Lawrence, SDWC has grown from a group of 14 lesbians gathered around a piano in a private home to a thriving community with over 125 members who believe in the power of music and the power of women. For nearly 30 years, SDWC has provided a safe space that encourages women's creativity, celebrates diversity, and inspires social action. San Diego Women's Chorus is a non-profit community chorus that strives to entertain and inspire audiences with music that speaks to issues as diverse as human rights, love, world peace, religious freedom, environmental harmony, inclusion and cultural diversity. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women, as well as lesbian and gay composers and arrangers.
