Musco Center Presents Rosanne Cash with John Leventhal

Musco Center for the Arts at Chapman University presents Rosanne Cash with husband and songwriting partner John Leventhal on February 2 at 7:30 pm. In her Musco Center debut, the eldest daughter of country music icon Johnny Cash brings to Orange County, her new tour of the critically acclaimed album of the same name, She Remembers Everything.
She Remembers Everything follows Rosanne's triple-Grammy winning 2014 album The River & the Thread. It marks a return to more personal songwriting after a trio of albums that explored her southern roots and family heritage. In the wake of the latest tsunami of survivor stories, Cash has embraced women's narratives in this powerful material. "There is a woman's real life, complex experiences and layered understanding in these songs," Cash says. "I could not have written them ten years ago-not even close. Time is shorter, I have more to say."
As a Nashville Songwriters' Hall of Fame inductee and one of the country's pre-eminent singer-songwriters, Cash has released fifteen albums of poetic, lush, and soulful songs that have earned four Grammy Awards, eleven Grammy nominations, and eleven number one singles.
"Rosanne Cash is a gifted storyteller for our time," said Richard T. Bryant, Executive Director of Musco Center. "Her ability to perceive and respond to our complex social landscape through song and verse speaks to a tradition that runs in her blood."
She was awarded the SAG-AFTRA Lifetime Achievement award for Sound Recordings in 2012 and received the 2014 Smithsonian Ingenuity Award in the Performing Arts. Earlier this year Cash was awarded with the Spirit of Americana Free Speech Award and received an honorary doctorate degree from Berklee College of Music.
"The partnership between Cash and Leventhal is equally harmonious. They watch each other appreciatively, sharing smiles as they perform songs that span Cash's career, from the pop-country of her first hit 'Seven Year Ache' to the Appalachian bluegrass classic 'Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow Tree.' It amounts to a glorious celebration," wrote The Guardian.
Five-time Grammy Award winner John Leventhal is a musician, producer, songwriter and recording engineer. He has collaborated with notable artists including Jackson Browne, Michelle Branch, Elvis Costello, William Bell, Paul Simon, Dolly Parton, and many others. Leventhal has earned eleven Grammy nominations as a producer and has had over 100 songs recorded by various artists.
Tickets for February 2 are on sale now for $35-65 and may be purchased through the Musco Center online at www.muscocenter.org or by calling the box office at 844-OC-MUSCO (844-626-8726).
